It’s late in the month and that means it’s time for another run through the zeitgeist with America’s most crotchety culture critics. On this outing, they praise (well, mostly) Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, DC apartments vs. NYC apartments, marvel at that time when Al Pacino worked at Commentary (and his unique appearance at this year’s Oscars)the films of Christopher Nolan, the fall of Sam Bankman-Fried, and trigger warning: the Trump Bible and Ronna McDaniel’s brief but very strange tenure  at NBC.

Ricochet Audio Network: the Trump Bible

Maybe people want to support Trump, and they enjoy getting maybe something kinda kitschy for it?  See also: golden tennis shoes.

Or is that only acceptable when Ricochet offers a Peter Robinson book for a Reagan membership?

The weird part of these guys is that for them it’s all about Trump’s words, not Trump’s deeds.   I guess it’s because verbiage is all they produce.

That the world was relatively peaceful under Trump is simply unimportant to them.   Perhaps they regard it as no more than an amazing cluster of coincidences or accidents.

It’s like when a different generation of political pundits dismissed Ronald Reagan’s achievements as “Irish luck”.   Everything he did in relation to the Soviet Union was wrong, the pundits agreed, and then the Soviet Union mysteriously collapsed of its own accord.

Rather than admit they were wrong, the GLoPers prefer to consign 74 million people to a “personality cult”.   More than 74 million, this time, if the polls are any guide.

and yet, they did not get as worked up about Biden’s words and deeds.

Biden is a braggart, a demagogue and liar, all the things they complain about Trump, plus his energy, border, monetary policies his canceling of student debt are all things that would have gotten their ire does not seem to register.

Also, they ignore all of the shadiness of “Biden Inc”.

I would check out the book by James Buchanan called, “Suicide of the West.” According to James, leftism is appealing to people who do nothing but deal in language. Lawyers and psychologists. Surgeons and businessman need to get stuff done and they have less use for abstractions.

Almost all the NTers are writers I have noticed. They live in verbiage and not action.

Conservative journalists are like high school nerds, who eagerly join the popular kids in vilifying somebody who is even more of an outcast than they are.

They yearn for acceptance from the popular kids.

Call it MSNBC envy.   “Please!   Give me a chance!   I am just as ready as those other guys to sell out the conservative cause.”

Sorry. I should have said a RTer which means a reluctant Trumper. Thomas Sowell, Ben Shapiro or Ron De Santis are versions of these and they have promoted conservatism as much as anyone on the podcast.

Instead that are right wing version of MSNBC and flippantly insult everyone who disagrees with them as dumb.

    Thus my anger.

I enjoy it, too — when they’re not sneering at Trump and Trump supporters (i.e., the vast majority of Ricochet members).

I enjoyed the joke Greg and Jon did on Friday’s Three Martini Lunch. I don’t think they tied it to Jonah Goldberg, but they joked about the Trump Bible being edited by Trump and him cutting out the book of Jonah. I might get that one .

Funniest line of the episode, John said that Ronna helped support an insurrection. The guys need to stay away from discussing politics. They aren’t good at it.

After hearing about Three Body Problem I went on Apple TV and asked Siri for the show and it gave me the Chinese version on Peacock (called Three Bodies). I didn’t know it was a different adaptation until midway through episode two and quickly found the Netflix version.  True, the Chinese version soft-peddles the Cultural Revolution, but it is also wayyyy slower moving and not in a good way.  Long musical montages with callbacks to earlier scenes and storytelling at a glacial pace.  I finished the Nexflix season and am now going to finish the Chinese season (17 episodes!). I wonder which adaptation is closest to the book.

Anybody who refers to a campus riot by a few hundred unarmed yokels and simpletons as an “insurrection” is a liar or an idiot.

How much of it?  It runs pretty long, maybe there should be a time limit?

I would say all of it. It’s not really that long.
