The story about Obama instituting racial quotas in air traffic control reminded me of a case in a major northeastern city, I think it was Philadelphia, some years ago.
Because of “racial disparity“ in the results of the fire captains examination, a judge ruled that of the next five promotions to fire captain three would have to be minority. As a result, the ranks on the exam of the five men promoted were: 1st, 2nd, 80th, 83rd, and 85th.
Fire captains have to understand combustion chemistry, industrial processes, and architecture — to know when to pull out their troops. At the time of writing, it was thought that the racial quota system may have already led to some unnecessary deaths.
Here’s a point on school shootings that I haven’t seen anybody make. Years ago, local news outlets learned to avoid publicizing teen suicides, because if they did publicize them, there would be more, copycat suicides.
Either the liberal media have forgotten this lesson, or they think the additional deaths today are worth it, if they eventually lead to a ban on private ownership of firearms.
