On today’s edition of The Daily Signal podcast, Rob Bluey and Ginny Montalbano review the week’s top news. We feature an exclusive interview with Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, who spoke to Rob at the Reagan Institute Summit on Education. DeVos addressed the “nation’s report card,” its disappointing results, and how the Trump administration is pursuing reforms to improve education in America. We share some of our favorite letters from you, and highlight a good news story from the week. Your letter could be featured next week; write us at letter@dailysignal.com. Enjoy the show!

Congressman Jim Jordan speaks eloquently about the Republicans “doing what they were elected to do”.
But what did the American people actually elect them to do? Put forward the Republican agenda of limited government? Or restrain the Democrats, who had gone too far?
My suspicion is the latter. Note that Republican primary voters selected a moderate Democrat to be their standard bearer.
I think the modern Republican Party is heir to both the Republican Party of the past and the traditional, moderate, patriotic Democratic Party. The Democratic Party that was based on the white working class, which has been abandoned by the new, far left party of minorities and billionaires.
