Though it is particularly true of New York City, it’s apparent across this country: The political class has lost its enthusiasm and affection for the nation. They are focused not on revivifying and reinventing it, but on divvying up what’s left while you can. It’s not just a Democratic fixation, either. The GOP’s obsession with relitigating the 2020 election prevents them from looking forward, and that needs to be throttled out of the party.

Oh, yes, you guys know all about looking forward.  All you could do for the last four years was moan and complain about Trump and look forward to the day he was gone.  Welcome to the bed you helped make.

I intend to listen to this, but GOP boilerplate is not the solution. We are at least 30 years past that. Trust me you don’t want to get in an argument with me about it.

You have asked for comments as to whether you should continue your podcast efforts on a daily basis.  Here are thoughts from a regular listener in Switzerland.  I am also a subscriber to your online publication.

The Commentary podcast has become one of three Ricochet windows enabling me to see into the USA.  Forming a continuous and accurate image of what you have occurring there is not simple for us in Europe.  The mainstream media has become very skewed, both there and here, about what takes place there, and biased as to what events imply.  So, this is why I have come to rely on the daily Commentary podcasts.

For me, the most interesting parts of your podcasts deal with these subjects:  The cancel culture in the USA; the “woke” phenomenon; the 1619 Project and the phenomena surrounding Critical Race Theory, which is largely beyond my ability to comprehend; the entire atmosphere of why the Left in the USA is consumed with such intolerance of others’ ideas, and the associated hatred that follows.  Even though I have long been a supporter of Israel, and have toured there with a Catholic priest here, I have learned still more about the challenges those brave people face listening to your podcasts.

I hope you continue your daily efforts.
