forgive me for sounding like a pedant (ohhh, maybe I’ll get a twofer for this :-),
but ‘stochastic’ printing is a real thing with a very precise and accurate definition in this context. I won’t bore you with the details for am not an academic, but reproduced images in magazines and such got a LOT better because of the raster image processing (RIP-goin’ for a threefer here) allowed by very powerful computer processing starting in the nineties by stochastic algorithms. Beautiful stuff really.
