Who had 6 years to get this right?
But we know the truth, they never expected to have to actually deliver.
90% on Ryan and the House leadership. 10% on Trump.
Very happy it failed. If it passed we’d have squandered our one chance to get the Feds out of healthcare.
All they had to do was repeal every word of the ACA, returning to the status quo ante, then set about improving what we had in 2008 without inserting the Fed into the mix. Decouple health expenses from taxes, enable nationwide shopping, implement tort reform, and then shut up.
The quislings can’t do it because the truth behind the GOP is that they love the Behemoth and they just want to be the party pulling the levers of power.
Screw them. Time for a new party that doesn’t rely on implants to stiffen the spine.
You all might find this interesting. I did.
Scott Adams on Trump’s Healthcare Strategy
The GOP should just let it burn. Let Obamacare collapse, point to the fact the Dems own it. And move Monday on tax reform and ram it through.
Yeah. The Dems are already gloating, but if ACA simply collapses, they’ve got nowhere to hide. Ryancare wasn’t going to help us anyway, so let O’care collapse. Roast marshmallows over the flames. HDAHA
I can’t agree, because of my buddy. He and his wife are self-employed and he is already paying over $800 a month for health care and is scared to death of what it will be next year. He’s supporting a lot of unhealthy deadbeats out there, and it’s not fair. He and his wife didn’t do anything to deserve this.
We. Must. Repeal. Obamacare.
Congress needs to shut up about “Replace”. Just repeal it.
Dude. My husband and I are paying 1200/month
I guarantee it will go tits up right when we need it. I am covered for pregnancy – which is nice at 59. And both of us can get a sex change, so we got that going for us.
Ryan had 6-7 years to work on this and get it right. He didn’t and most of the blame should go on him. Trust Never Trumpers to always find a way to be bitter.
Oh c’mon. 80% on Freedom Caucus.10% on Ryan and Trump. I still have no clue what these clowns were holding out for. Just pure petulance, imo. Same guys that gave us Trump in the first place by being unable to compromise on someone sane. Really racking up some wins for them, huh.
Turns out, Captain “Dealmaker” isn’t all he’s cracked up to be (or rather, all that he “cracked” himself up to be…and which his acolytes ate up whilst blinded behind the thick layer of scales over their eyes).
Still bitter I see.
Liberty perhaps?
I was listening to the podcast whilst ‘choring’ today (my kitchen is now gleaming!). About half way in, the trio starts lamenting the loss of earmarks. Podhoretz is complaining about the foolish jettisoning of earmarks, and how the loss of this mechanism has greatly reduced the power of the Speaker to get people to vote the way he and the party wants. And while I’m listening, I’m realizing that this mechanism may be one of the big reasons we’ve lost so much liberty, why government has grown so out of control. It isn’t just the problem of sticking pointless and expensive spending items in bills as a bribe, its distorted the process by getting congressmen /women to vote for items they’d otherwise think better of. Earmarks are a useful tool if power and control are your objectives – a powerful party that ‘gets things done’. But liberty is your goal – earmarks are its enemy, I think.
Of course I knew this about earmarks – but listening to people complain about the loss of power – power to get representatives to do things they don’t really think they should do – I realized in full how deeply damaging thing earmarks have been to liberty.
here’s what my choices were. Thank God I don’t need it.
Hey, you have unlimited psych and substance abuse rehab which is great if it makes you crazy or drives you to drink…
I absolutely agree. Ryan blew this big time.
You “see”…
“Liberty” isn’t a policy provision, Its a lame excuse for doing nothing….and it leaves no room for any sane further negotiation. Enjoy your ACA.
But I agree with your comment about earmarks though. Weird point by JP there. Best thing Boehner ever did.
Liberty is a lame excuse for doing nothing??
I don’t want government to ‘do something’. I want liberty.
A government which endeavors to see the healthcare is provided for all – and funded for about half, is a government on the path to destroy meaningful healthcare.
The ACA will collapse. The Republican ‘substitute’ would have done the same, just slower. It was the typical ‘republican’ plan – taking you to the same place democrats were taking you, just on a slower route.
Its funny how Podhoretz was both lamenting the loss of the Speaker’s ability to force his party to vote for bills at the same time he was admitting that this bill was really bad. What a Funny Joke!
I think the bill was bad, but weren’t there quite a few things in there that you guys would have approved of? For example, wouldn’t you guys approve of the changes in Medicaid funding and the elimination of any healthcare mandate?
