The terror attacks this weekend in New York and St. Cloud, Minnesota, have this in common with San Bernardino, Orlando, and Boston: They were the work of American citizens. On this podcast, Abe Greenwald, Noah Rothman, and John Podhoretz discuss the ramifications of this sobering fact and what it will mean going forward. We also ask whether Hillary Clinton’s campaign can get any worse and whether Donald Trump can get any more irresponsible. Also, why is it that we’re counseled to be prudent in discussing possible terrorism but are called names if we don’t immediately judge a police shooting an act of racist murder? Give a listen.

To answer the question posed by the title of this post, “Yes, they are here.”

Hillary wants to bring in more of these unvetted people into this country, from places saturated with Muslim extremists.  Now I have have a question:

Why is anyone out there still “#nevertrump”, given the threat we face, and the policies a Hillary administration would implement?

    Excellent questions.

John, you are wrong wrong wrong on what you said  about Black Lives Matter and terrorism. Whatever you think of BLM, their motivation is not “maybe the next time, it will be me.”

John’s comments that limiting Syrian influx does not solve any problem as recent terrorists came 15 years ago or are the children of immigrants from 2 decades ago is strange. Don’t we want to prevent terror in 2030-35 also? Immigrants who cannot assimilate is a big long-tem problem.

Reminds me of the debate ten years ago about oil drilling. The argument against was that it would take ten years to come to market. Hmmm.

Also, John accidentally said that the bomb on 27th street killed 29 people. Obviously he meant injured. Thank goodness no one was killed.

It is so revealing to hear Podhoretz plaintively albeit hopelessly offer talking points to Hillary Clinton that might enable her to get a leg up on Trump.

It reminds me of Mona Charen going “all in” for Ted Cruz, whom she hated, simply to defeat Trump for the nomination.

And of course near the end of his futile advice John states what will be the conventional wisdom among the NR, TWS, Commentary and Ricochet know-it-alls – Trump didn’t win; Hillary lost.

Because, you see, they’ve been right about Trump’s success from the start, right?

Podhoretz believes you can mop up a flood while the faucet is still open.

And he states that belief – and all others – with absolute certainty.

Well, I don’t know much (and plenty of people can attest to that), but if Trump wins it’s going to represent and incredible achievement. In any election there is a winner and a loser. I get your point, and know what you mean. But honestly, if Trump wins, it will be because Hillary lost, and because Trump won. (Yeah, ok, that’s completely tautological, but you know what I mean.)

@maxledoux I get your point, but consider this: If Trump wins the Presidency he’ll be both the richest man to ever do so and the one who in modern history spent the least amount of money.

Just like everyone predicted would happen.
