A friend of mine was a Republican Elector in 2000. She had many people contact her in an effort to convince her to be a faithless elector. It was apparently a coordinated effort.
You mention the death of the tech guru Steve Jobs. Ironically, he possibly died because he rejected technology. Jobs had cancer. Instead of using modern medical technology to treat it as soon as possible, which would have been a big help, he instead used new age pseudoscience treatments. He did not switch to real medicine until later. With cancer treatments, there are no sure things, especially with pancreatic cancer. But he almost certainly hastened his death with his actions.
I think this example shows a major reason for the current anti-vax trend. Many people have long rejected modern medicine in favor of quackery.
