Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
In the new COMMENTARY podcast, John Podhoretz, Abe Greenwald, and Noah Rothman examine how President-elect Donald Trump has managed to drive his allies—both Republican and European—over a cliff with anxiety. Will having an American president who is skeptical toward institutions like the European Union and NATO shatter the Atlanticist consensus? Finally, the shuttering of the Barnum and Bailey Circus and what that says about American culture.

This is one of the really good podcasts at Ricochet.
Agree. There are some I skip, but never this one.
I never skip this one either. Very good. A bit gloomy, but awesome discussions. As to today’s content, I’m probably missing something but I just don’t see the “Trump is unpopular” consensus here in the “real” world. Is this a Beltway and Coasts thing?
I have to side with John, versus Noah, on the Brexit discussion. Some foreign policy experts think Brexit was a bad thing because it weakened the EU, but I disagree. Brexit was good not only for the self-determination of the Brits (which I think is reason enough to leave on its own), but also because the EU is dying.
The Greece’s and Italy’s are bringing down the productive economies of Europe and the Euro was doomed from the beginning. Add on top of that the migration crisis promoted by Angela Merkel and you have a security/economic crisis that Brits were more than justified to turn their back on.
NATO is the key to European stability and security, not the EU. That’s what we, the Brits, and our other allies should focus on. Let’s hope Trump comes to see the light on that in the near future.
Trump can say this, that, and the other about what any new healthcare legislation is going to look like, but the until both houses of Congress can agree upon the legislation, write the new laws, then pass the new laws in both houses, anything Trump comments upon until that time is more of a wish list anyhow.
A President over promising about healthcare brings back memories of another famous Presidential orator:
Don’t cry for Turkey and article 4. Turkey killed NATO in 2002 when they blocked our route into Iraq. It’s just been a weekend at bernie’s since then.
