Brexit Fallout: Cameron Steps Down

Published in GeneralPrime Minister David Cameron is to step down by October after the UK voted to leave the European Union.
Mr Cameron made the announcement in a statement outside Downing Street after the final result was announced.
He said he would attempt to “steady the ship” over the coming weeks and months but that “fresh leadership” was needed.
The PM had urged the country to vote Remain, warning of economic and security consequences of an exit, but the UK voted to Leave by 52% to 48%.
The Boris Johnson prime ministership should be an interesting one.

In 1963, DeGaulle vetoed Britain’s application to join the Common Market. Mr Blitz came into class the next day and said something like “You have no idea what an important day you have just seen. The end of Britain as a major world power.”
Looks like the Brits have decided to prove him wrong.
I don’t know if he confirmed or denied it, but the conventional wisdom was that his standing among the Tories was tied to the referendum. Just about everybody, left and right, saw a Brexit victory as a de facto repudiation of Cameron’s leadership. I guess he felt the same.
All I can say is WOW! Democracy is an magical thing.
