Stand Up Virginia Rally

We attended the Stand Up Virginia Rally Saturday in Centreville near the Bull Run Battlefield. Traffic on I-95 was heavy so we missed part of it but we made several useful contacts for fighting voter fraud. We think that’s a major issue both in Virginia and countrywide. In addition, we heard WMAL’s Chris Plante give an excellent talk.

I expected to see Rob at this booth…

Many people at the rally are fighting Critical Race Theory.

That *is* Rob.  He’s wearing an American Mask ™, so he can blend in with the proles.

Not to act like the cliche I am, but they have to dump the Mistral typeface for “Virginia.” It’s so tired. The Right needs a professional graphics advisor. Although the anti-CRT posters seem to show hope; they’re adopting the sans-serif typeface models usually associated with Obama’s campaign.

Trump 2024, eh. Any DeSantis 2024 booths?

It’s amazing what message we convey about our attitudes through fonts:

    AR DESTINE – “I like Sci-Fi.”

ARIAL NARROW – “I’m trying to save space.”

TIMES NEW ROMAN – “I never quite got over the switch to default Calibri.”

COMIC SANS – “You have no reason to take me seriously in any way shape or form.”

PAPYRUS – “I watch Ancient Aliens and take it entirely too seriously.”

COURIER NEW – “I like to think that my computer is a super smart typewriter.”

Hah! Perfect. At least we’ve seen a reduction in Hobo in recent years. It had a brief vogue when it was included in default font packages. Like many overused fonts, it’s older than we think – Hobo dates from the early 20th century, and the ur-80s font Mistral hails from the 50s. The oh-so-70s font used in the Mary Tyler Moore show is from 1937.

And yes yes I know, by fonts I mean “typefaces.”

DeSantis is going to be popular and anything Trump does is going to be very popular, but I hope he does not run – he’s too controversial and he could be very supportive in other ways. Here in FL (I’m in NW in a beach tourist town) there are Trump won signs, Trump signs and American flags all over – next to Texas flags sometimes which is funny. He can rally the troops for sure. I hope the 2022 elections turn the tables over.
