Report Issues/ 2.0 Feedback
As suggested by She and anonymous, let’s use this thread to report your bugs, ideas, and feedback on 2.0. We’re reading it and our grateful for your suggestions and your patience.
3/23/ Update: We are aware that several new problems have cropped over the weekend, and existing problems with the podcast feeds, formatting, search, messaging, and alerts have not been addressed or have broken again. We also are aware that many of you have not seen your old posts appear on the new site yet. We are looking into all of this and will have a status update on these issues posted by Monday PM PT.
We will get all of this fixed. That’s a promise.

We are aware of the truncated bios issue. As it is not a mission critical bug, it has not been addressed yet but will be shortly.
The more I read about and experience the deficiencies of 2.0 I wonder if, in WordPress, Ricochet should have kept as much as possible of 1.0 with the expectation of adding new things slowly and carefully as time goes by.
Instead of a 180deg turn maybe a 91deg turn would have been better. Just thinking out loud. I must say it’s been extremely frustrating, particularly from an iPad POV.
I don’t have to renew ’til Jan 2015, so I have the luxury of being patient.
2.0 is already light years better on an iPad than 1.0 as evidenced by the fact that this comment is being written on one. Could not be done in 1.0.
Every time I try to [like] something, it doesn’t like it and it kicks me to the top of the page.
The Ricochet Super Feed is fixed! (Android, DoggCatcher 1.2.5105)
Thanks, Yeti and tech team.
I’m trying to locate a conversation: “What Happened to That Plane?“
Fred, what browser and operating system are you using?
BY, There appears to be a bug ‘incorrect page link’ in linking comments via the “Alerts” feature to their actual comment.
Example:
I was about to post the same thing, although less proficiently. Yesterday, I seem to recall it was taking me to page 62 when there were 84
I tried to put up a post and its on the My feed section but hasn’t made it to the Member feed. Is there a delay period for posts, or is this another bug?
This is related to the fact that we switched off nested comments in the middle of this thread. And threads created after the switch don’t have this issue. We’re looking into a fix.
Puzzle I hope y’all can solve!
On a different subject: Is there a post that you can point me to, that will provide the reasons for the change from the nested comments? I’m in the camp that appreciated the organization they provided. What problem did the return to non-nesting comments solve?
You’ll want to take a look at this: http://ricochet.com/nesting-2-0/
quoting also doesn’t link properly.
note how you quoted someone at the top of page 86
http://ricochet.com/report-issues-2-0-feedback/comment-page-86/#comment-1043353
but your quote points to the wrong page (86 but should be 85)
http://ricochet.com/report-issues-2-0-feedback/comment-page-86/#comment-1043316
here is the actual source quotation (page 85)

We have pointed this out previously, but I’ll say it again: Because this thread originated when nesting comments were active and then deactivated, the generated links are not accurate. This is not the case with newer threads. Probably should end this support thread and start a new one.
Yes end it with a comment pointing to the new thread.
I don’t know the moment you turned off nesting, so I don’t know which threads were created after it.
Here’s a thread created March 24, 2014 at 5:24 pm with the same issue where the top comment on a new page fails to link to a comment on a prior page.

links to
http://ricochet.com/hands-off-my-hips-white-girl/comment-page-7/#comment-1043064
should link to

That thread has 19 pages of comments.
Gotta run, or I might dig through those 19 pages to see if I can find a concise answer.
Sorry to have to report another glitch, but using Windows7 on a laptop, when I click the email button to share a thread, a box appears saying ‘Email to a Friend.’ But when you click on the box, nothing happens.
I know there was work done on alerts today and that email alerts were allegedly turned on (although I have yet to receive one). It does appear that they are not working correctly. Will investigate and report back.
Thanks for the report. Same behavior here on a Mac. Will report it.

That should help BlueYeti and others keep track if things in one place (simple!) and give us all a single place to provide feedback as well.
At the moment the most current thread is:
I should start by saying that my default assumption is that I’m doing something wrong when it comes to technology. That being said…
My alerts come in one a time…is there a setting to change them back to “X and 10 others commented on…”
I find that I don’t read them in their present state.
Thanks
Have you decided that the new website won’t work at all on Internet Explorer? I’m using 8 at work, and 9 at home, and it doesn’t display properly, is well nigh unusable, and won’t let me log in on either. I’m using Chrome now (which I don’t like, at all), and it seems to display and log in fine. Just tell me, please, if I’m wasting my time trying to use IE? It still has 20% of the web browser usage market – but am I just bashing my head against the wall here?
And I can’t start a conversation – it says “undefined”? And where are the drafts? I’m a grumpy old man – but honestly, this is bulldust.
Ricochet has known for hours but has not let their Members know that you cannot Start a Conversation. This is the epitome of Bad Customer Service. Even the Airlines know, you tell people the flight is delayed.
I just posted, but the photo I included did not get added. So when I went to edit said post immediately after posting, I got a message that I couldn’t do so as I didn’t write the post or it had been over 1440 minutes.
I tried logging out and back in, and now I can’t even see the edit link on the post. My post. That I allegedly didn’t write.

Mar 26, 2014 (currently has 7 pages of comments) – http://ricochet.com/nightly-2-0-update-look-up-in-the-sky-its-a-super-feed/
This thread is no longer the most current conversation area.
The current best place to discuss Ricochet 2.0 issues is:
Alerts are freakin’ out for me now, man. I get several alerts saying posts I made weeks or months ago were posted by me seven hours ago. Also, it’ll post that same information three or more times.
Also, I don’t get consistent alerts on what’s happening now.
Yep, almost no Alerts on current stuff unless I go into See All and refresh manually, but old posts appearing spam out the Alert bubble with repeated entries.
With 875 comments (now 876!) I would humbly suggest that this conversation has gotten out of hand. I would like to suggest a change.
o Identify the top five (or so) issues.
o Start a conversation for each.
o Assign a moderator for each and moderate strictly.
I understand that strict moderation (toss posts that are off-topic) is contrary to Ricochet style, but I would suggest that this is about the “service” provided by Ricochet.com to its consumers, and so should be subject to different rules.
