An Update from Fort Pelosi

Last week, I wrote about the deployment of the National Guard to “protect” our Nation’s Capitol. Since then, there have been a few developments; mostly bad.

As I mentioned, the head of the Capitol police had requested a sixty-day extension of the protection detail. Although the Chief of the National Guard Bureau had objected to this request (making the case that the Guard was already overstretched due to coronavirus constraints, civil disturbances, and wildfires) the Secretary of Defense overruled him and rubber-stamped the request. Naturally, all the costs associated with this deployment have been and will be, borne by the Department of Defense. Hey, it’s only money, right?

So, these troops will remain at their posts until at least May 23. Because so many of the troops, presently there, are anxious to return home (because of those pesky things called jobs and families) the DoD is considering involuntary activation orders so that units, probably from friendly blue states, could be called up for, perhaps, longer periods.

However, it appears that more than a few people are questioning the need for not only the troops but the enhanced security features such as the razor wire that have made the “People’s House” resemble a government building in Kabul. Does our government consider this to be a permanent solution for threats that continue to be “undetermined?” In a masterful piece of government doubletalk, the DoD spokesman (who makes Baghdad Bob look like Edward R. Murrow) tried to justify the Guard’s continued presence by stating that, “It’s not just about the threat environment. In a highly polarized, hypercharged environment that we’re in right now, it’s very much about a capacity assistance to the Capitol Police as they begin to flesh out and develop what they’re going to need long-term to deal with a new reality on Capitol Hill”.

Huh? What is this overpaid doofus talking about? Is this his way of saying, “Hey, get used to it folks. We’re more afraid of our own people than we are the Red Chinese?”

But, for the Guardsmen, life at Fort Pelosi goes on. Except for today, there is one fewer. Yesterday, a member of the Guard died from a “medical emergency.” No word on what that emergency might have been.

The conditions that I described last week do not appear to be getting better. Just yesterday, it was reported that even more metal shavings were found in their food.

How much longer can this insanity go on? Is it the intent of the Biden Administration to make this the “new normal” for our Capitol? It seemed to me that when Trump was in office, not a day went by in which we did not hear the plaintive wails coming from the Democrats, “This makes us look terrible in the eyes of the world”.

Funny. They no longer seem to care.

I suspect the medical emergency death will be laid at Trumps feet.

Wow!  This post has not reassured me that we will return back to normal – what is going on – someone has to know? They keep moving the the time frames…..  The food issue is on a whole different level!  What is going on with these metal shavings? I want an answer – where are they getting this food? Are the machines that spit out the food too old? If this got out about shavings in say Oscar Meyer products, no one would buy or eat them!

We’re talking about a branch of government that pays $100 for a hammer or $800 for a toilet!  They can’t feed our troops top notch food????  Then hire a damn chef and let him set up at the Capitol!  They had traveling chefs in airstreams setting up all over the Florida Panhandle after Hurricane Michael to cook and hand out fresh food!

This is shameful.  If the top brass at the Pentagon had to eat alongside their Guard, this would be changed pronto!  Now getting back for why they are there……..?

I’d like to hear from the NTers about this. Biden’s been a catastrophe and I blame them for the current situation.

I’d prefer to see every member of Congress down there eating with the troops but I don’t think that’s going to happen.

Has anyone seen a list of states that are supplying these National Guard troops?  I’m curious as to which governors are willing to go along with it and take responsibility for the treatment of those from their states.

I haven’t seen a current breakdown but the states of Kentucky and Washington (state) have said they’re ready to send troops.  (Both states with Democratic governors; no surprises there.)

On the other hand, both Florida and South Carolina (both red states) have declined to participate.

If you remember back in 2009, when the Dems started ramming through all kinds of corrupt deals, the TEA party rose up.  I think they think the militarization will keep the protesters away.  Out of sight.  Out of mind.  Out of the news.  It is working.

That’s a strategy that might blow up in the Left’s face. Keep driving those folks further underground and don’t be surprised when they became a threat that no longer cares about talking.

May 23rd?  Is there an armada on the way, troops marching on DC over land, space aliens poised to invade – and can arrive at any time in the next 2 months?

I’m not even sure why the theatre.  The elections are over for another year and a half before the next congressional round.  There is literally no reason to have troops deployed around the Capitol.  None. Zero.  Zilch.

Yet, there those soldiers sit, deployed for nothing, away from their lives and families, for political theater by elites who, if they are that afraid, would never fly to DC.  And they can stay in their Senate and House office buildings and vote remotely.

If what they do is so critical to the functioning of the country, which it has very much been shown to be NOT that.  We do not need them.  They need us.

Convert.  Change sides to the popular side of reason and love.  And don’t film antifa.  When they tell you to raise a fist and chant, raise your fist and chant. (This wouldn’t be so if the law were applied uniformly and equally to all.)

I am a seriously law-abiding, rule-keeping person. I raised five children and knew that, every moment, they were watching me to see if I was doing what I asked them to do, and following my own rules. I then became an elementary school teacher. RULES?? We got ’em and we follow ’em! Seriously…little eyes are always on me.

But reading this post and this article about the man who was arrested for having a logo on his hat, and talking to some sketchy people has fired me up!! I want to go break him out of jail! I want to go rob a bank to hire him a lawyer! I am outraged!

Okay, I won’t rob a bank or go try a jailbreak. But, people of Ricochet??–WHAT CAN I DO? This is so obnoxious. This is so UN-American. How can this keep happening??

It will continue until Nancy gets to replace them with her own palace guard, commanded by her and loyal to her.  Maybe she’ll call it a Protection Squadron and give them little death head icons, and dress them in all black with ancient nordic letters on their collars.

Sorry.  My answer was sardonic.  The truth is that I don’t have a clue.  I saw a video of a half dozen guys in black getting in a reporter’s face and surrounding him and forcing the guy to keep backing up. One guy even started to pull out a large OD can of mace (or bear spray or whatever it was).  He really thought that macing the guy was a great thing to do at that time.  And all I could think of was going all Steven Seagal on them.  But I’m not Steven Seagal.  It should be the police arresting these guys for assault.  But they were nowhere around.
