Do We Really Want to Cancel Cuomo Without a Trial?

I am delighted to see Cuomo suffer the slings and arrows, which are likely much less than the jerk earned. But doesn’t he truly deserve at least a Kavanaugh-style hearing, before stepping down? We should not be so eager to demand his resignation solely on the word of accusers, lest we befall the same fate in the near future. Haven’t we seen enough throughout history of politically motivated killings, persecutions, and banishments?

I think there is plenty on which to prosecute Cuomo, from gross negligence in the death of seniors, to obstruction of justice for covering his efforts up, to harassment, and sexual charges. But let’s have a hearing and a trial as warranted. Simply demanding his resignation is not a wise path, even if it “feels” like it.

“We” might not be the appropriate pronoun here. As far as I can tell, it’s his former suck-ups who are the ones carrying torches through the dark streets because he’s become a liability to the left.

    So maybe “they?”

Cuomo gets thrown under the us.   Why?    Dems usually circle the wagons at times like these.   Certainly charges of sexual assault never got traction with Xiden.   What happened?   Maybe Cuomo was drawing too much attention to the nursing home Covid death fiasco? Continued attention to that topic would eventually involve other Democrat governors.   For example NJ’s Phil Murphy pursued similar nursing home policies as Cuomo and NJ has the highest per capita Covid deaths in the nation.   In the same boat are Wolfe in PA, Raimondo in RI, Baker in Mass.    Others with suspect Covid performances are Witmer and and Newsom.  Is Cuomo getting sacrificed to protect the others?

Good question. One thing we can be sure of is that they aren’t doing it because of the merits of the charges against him.

He is certainly getting sacrificed, and while the Dems appear to be leading up the road with pitchforks, I am reluctant to cheer them on, because they will come next for White Nationalists, bigots, racists, Trump supporters .

Whatever keeps it in the news longest.  I’m enjoying this.  I’m enjoying the lamentations of his women.  He got an Emmy for playing a reptile on TV, and he deserves it.

On two occasions that I’m aware of, he said that conservatives were not welcome in his state.  So . . . whatever brings him the most suffering works for me.

I find it interesting that it wasn’t the investigative prowess of the New York Times, the journalists on call for the Washington Post, or thousands of reporters and near endless resources on hand at corporate media outlets (Hi there, CNN & NBC), but an independent journalist with The Daily Caller that broke the nursing home death coverup. Perhaps the fawning media is embarrassed by their championing this fraud while the actual journalists show them up. They could no longer contain the bleeding, and Cuomo is longer useful as a viable foil to Trump.

Just to clarify: Governor Baker is not in trouble or under investigation for the nursing home deaths here. In fact, he has launched one of his own investigations into nursing home deaths here. He was asked about returning covid-positive patients to nursing homes, and I believe he started to do so but then quickly changed course.

That’s kind of my point.   He’s not in trouble, but he should be.    NJ, NY, RI and MA are the top four in the nation in per capita Covid deaths and all had the same policies.

I just saw this article over at the hill: https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/541260-new-book-cuomo-angered-biden-team-over-convention-address

Could this takedown of Cuomo be vindictive Biden team actions? It would explain a lot, how Cuomo went from darling to dog.

My guess is someone in the Democrat machinery realized Cuomo should not be allowed to rise to the level of consideration for President because the nursing home fiasco and now the #metoo assault give a GOP opponent too much ammunition.

He should be shamed and canceled without due process, because that is the standard he himself advocated.  I look forward to watching his career burn.

Unlike Kavanaugh, it’s not based solely on the word of the accuser. He’s basically admitted he said the things they say he did, only that he was joking.

Could be a possibility. I don’t know if the rumors were coming from Republicans or Democrats, but there was talk about replacing John Gill Joe Biden with Cuomo before November to avoid the health questions.

Bingo! From a purely political standpoint, the right has a lot more reason to want Cuomo around for longer than for him to go down on this.

It’s a little like Capone and taxes. Cuomo gets an award for his handling of Wu Flu and yet might get taken down for this? Where’s the accountability for the nursing home order?

Since you are asking, I think waterboarding 10,000 times would be appropriate.  It is similar to the suffering of those killed by Wuhan Lab Flu.

I believe that anyone involved in the policy (geriatricide) or covering it up, really wants the Luv Gov. to go away for being a creep.

Very Greek tragedy-like.  It’s drowning three times a day for 9 years.

I have no interest in the harassment-related accusations against Gov. Cuomo.  I have pretty much concluded that I’m not going to care about any such accusations, against anyone, unless there’s been a criminal conviction.

I do not like Cuomo’s politics, and I do not like him personally, on the basis of the public pronouncements that I have seen.  He may be a perfectly likeable fellow in an ordinary encounter.

I am skeptical of the accusations against Cuomo based on nursing home policy.  In hindsight, the policy may have been a bad idea, but I remember the urgency of the situation last spring, with serious concerns that the hospitals were going to fill up and overflow.  It looks like several states didn’t do a very good job at figuring out what to do with people who lived in nursing homes and who were being released from a hospital.  What should have been done with such people?

The cover-up does appear to be bad.

This is a communist purge.  The victims don’t need to make sense, in fact the less sense then the greater the terror.  The point is to make everyone afraid of everyone.

And in the case of Cuomo, it’s helpful because he has been becoming powerful.  They can reliably replace him with anyone that tows the party line, why would they need to protect him?  He’s better as an example of the long arm of the purge.

The what’s him name governor of Virginia would have been replaced by a republican, so that wouldn’t be allowed.

I’m sure there are a lot of people in the party with their eye on 2024 and would be eager to have Cuomo out. Sorta like Al Franken. It appears some Democrats have developed a taste for ruining careers for fairly absurd charges.
