Do We Need the Great Reset?
The folks at the World Economic Forum and whatever confabs Bill Gates is sponsoring this week will all be playing rather cynical word games about the “COVID-19 Crisis” and its impact on the “most vulnerable”. There will not be the slightest acknowledgment that it was the destructive and ineffectual government actions and not the virus (much less the defects of capitalism) that caused the greatest share of the damage. Instead, the current buzz is that COVID-19 showed us that people could be made to drastically adjust their living, working, and consumption patterns in a very short time frame if the government just chooses to make them do so.
And as is typical of grand policy-making concocted by the elite, the non-elite invariably get screwed.

It is truly stunning that spectacularly unscientific, hideously costly, racially and socioeconomically disproportionate government actions are seen by some as proof for a need to expand the role of government because it was the “capitalist system” that failed in the COVID crisis.
We watched “capitalist” entities rapidly adapt in many ways from food delivery to the speed of vaccine development whereas governments across the globe adopted a failed approach in March, set it in concrete and most are still unable to adapt to what a growing abundance of data tells us about what the policy should be regarding closures, schools, and protection of the most vulnerable. Who is it again that needs a “reset”?
South of my Maryland home down in Washington, DC, murders are up, opioid deaths are way up and unemployment is up in a town that is supposed to be recession-proof due to the presence of the federal government; and it is hourly wage workers getting hammered. Higher COVID death rates and a disproportionate economic hit for the African-American non-elite is happening.
DC may even cost their students more than a full year of schooling due to the lingering effects of the unwarranted school closures.
DC schools are 90% Black and Latino and some schools are overwhelmingly low income so guess where those kids fit on the chart.
The federal workforce (“work”) has been on paid remote-work status for eight months, so tens of thousands of daily customers for DC shops and restaurants have literally disappeared as have many or most of those businesses along with the jobs that they provided. The contractors and suppliers who maintain office buildings, computer systems, supply paper and pens, support copiers and phones, paint, and remodel are all laying off employees in droves.
The Metro rail and bus system has suffered a 90% drop in revenues and now have a $400-500 million shortfall. Metrorail will no longer run on weekends. Several stations are closed to reduce the number of workers needed to operate them. If someone using the system still has a job with weekend hours (like at a hospital, maybe), tough.
Using the eyeball test, more than half of downtown DC storefronts are boarded up. This DC restaurant website now functions more like an obituary page, listing restaurants killed by the government mandates. In addition to restaurant staff, the job losses are similar for suppliers, drivers, and many other vendors. The commercial property market is cratering. Firms are bailing on copier maintenance contracts and coffee machine suppliers. Jobs related to maintenance, security, and remodeling have declined.
And in passing, one of the most depressing items I’ve read concerning COVID-19 developments elsewhere in the world is that the UN estimates that in some of the poorest nations as many as 50% of girls will not return to school once schools re-open but will be forced into early marriage or low-wage work instead as families dig out of newly worsened poverty.
None of this was due to a really bad flu so much as some really bad policies which also failed to combat that flu.
We will be told repeatedly by those who control most of the media that this crisis means that there must be a Great Reset of capitalism in favor of taking power away from stockholders (and also even from workers and customers) and putting it into the hands of a vaguely defined set of “stakeholders.” Precisely because the definition is too amorphous and malleable to identify who they are, these stakeholders will naturally need the enlightened ones to speak for them.
The same left-of-center high-income people who are quick to declare that anything with a“disparate impact” is racist appear to be oblivious to the disparate impact of imposing their sensibilities on the world. They now want to do even more damage now that COVID power-abuse has provided them with a blueprint. Racist bastards, all of ‘em.

I’ve said this before, but around late 1990’s I read on line, either the Trilateral or WEF that they “had to create a crisis”, something the whole world could get on board about, and they determined that it would be global warming. I always remembered it because I thought, why do you have to create a crisis, if it is a real crisis. The Green New Deal has been planned and we will be hurled into this new world order through that door. The WEF is also adding more pillars, green being one. Another is AI and digitizing everything including money. There are four major pillars.
So so very many coincidences in the past four years or so.
Why you say are the good things that money and research can do – and for years I thought in those terms regarding the Gates. I don’t think these are sinister intentions, but they may be going in that direction unawares. If you peel back the onion layers, there is more than meets the eye.

Well in Calif, it is not simply the safety net government programs hurting the poor and the middle class. A lot of rules and regulations are about “helping the environment.” So over the top smog regulations were created, which threw perfectly good cars on a junk heap, because of made up “environmental quality standards.”
Then major companies decided it was better to get out of Calif and never again worry your plant might be shut down over a candy wrapper discarded in the parking lot. (Or plastic straws in the lunchroom.) So jobs became less plentiful as well.
Of course, when policies become extremely hurtful to the poor and the middle class, the safety net programs are expanded. But the costs that are indirect costs like those are rarely considered.
Excellent bit of writing. And although the Reset might have gone ahead without the COVID crisis, this crisis has been a wet dream for those at the top. Not only are businesses closed, wiping out the livelihoods of who knows how many Americans, but suicides are off the charts as well, in areas where the lockdowns are extreme. Orwell spoke of how the Elite love to see pain. It’s what power is ultimately about.

Sounds like a return to normal, undoing President Trump and his voters’ hard work on behalf of the poorest and the least advantaged. I’m sure the GOPe are deeply disturbed.
Supposed support for public health in Africa that actually pushes/demands radical secular sexual policy acceptance (abortion and “sexual minority” legalization and promotion) is villainous. Are the Gates truly respectful of real diversity, offering money without any strings, or not? Best bet: not.
It’s all that money THEY could have had instead, going to “the wrong people.”
The difference here is that Trump has started a revolution of sorts – not in a mean way like BLM, but by restoring and giving voice back to the people by standing up and restoring many of our foundation principles and values. There was a deflated silence during the Obama years as it was happening – the rapid dismantling and rewriting of our country’s mission statement so to speak. The influence of Trump is not going away I predict and this will be needed.
James – an example of questioning everything (in this case Gates) @caroljoythreadhacker posted awhile back a link to a you tube of Bill Gates at the CIA showing a slide show of a suggestion that he had in dealing with terrorists in the Middle East. It’s in a small room and only the back heads of a tiny audience are visible. He suggests a vaccine that would alter a part of their brain that would change their violent leanings. I know it sounds nuts – completely Frankenstein-ish. They ask how would you get them to take it – aerosol? Plane? He said no – we would “introduce a flu type of virus” where they would have to be injected with a vaccine. If I had not seen it and heard it with my own eyes, I would never have believed it or had second thoughts regarding today’s situation. Who thinks like that???? Apparently someone!! I wish she would put it up again.
The idea at the bottom of the Great Reset is this: Every pandemic recovery stimulus must include green policy.
To do this there is a lot of talk in part about forcing corporations to be more green/woke in various ways like using carbon taxes. It’s basically ramping up government control of corporations, the same idea the Italian and German fascists had. This is the fond wish of progressives these days, and it says more about the rich progressive we have among us now than it does about the current state of the economy.
It’s evil because if the government can turn the economy toward green or progressive policies then it could also be turned toward other policies, like genocide, eugenics, or taking over the world. By contrast, capitalism left to its own devices or lightly regulated serves the customers and responds to them, to you and me.
It’s interesting that the Great Reset is basically an economic proposal, but there are almost no economists, even left leaning ones, supporting it.
Actually, Gate’s modifications were not proposed as eliminating violence or eliminating people approving of violence or even of dealing specifically with terrorists in the Middle East, but were presented as eradicating passionate responses to religious readings and creating a repulsion to them. This was mildly couched in an anti-islamist context, but it deals with emotional responses to religious texts. It certainly includes devout Protestants, Catholics and Jews as well. (And I would point out that devout Christians of every denomination are considered to be threats to law and order by at some of the enforcement branches of the US government. And apparently Jews are considered and actively treated as undesirables.)
It is a genetic modification vaccine to produce atheism.
This struck me as perhaps the most inhumanly degrading and demonic thing I’ve ever conceived of: to make people repulsed by even thinking of God.
Yes you are correct – That’s why I was shocked to see it and hear it. This is someone who is at the forefront of this vaccine and its roll out.
