    Happy New Year!

I hope that over this past Christmas season, you had the chance to spend some quality time with friends and family, to enjoy a quality meal and maybe a drink. It seems sad when we start to get to the age that some of those people that we’ve enjoyed so many past holidays with may not be here for future holidays. So dont procrastinate, set aside differences, and for old time’s sake, re connect and enjoy your family before its too late.

    “Maybe”

    Rest assured.

I have indeed been with friends and family; having Daughter home from college has been a joy. Did the Sunday Football with my good friends, hooting and hollering and wishing mayhem upon the enemy; had Swedish Meatballs, as is the Way of My People; rolled my eyes at the people massed in Times Square without recourse to bathrooms yell about a calendrical adjustment that changes nothing.

Coming from a preternaturally conflict-averse culture, I just don’t get the whole “differences” thing. Repress, bite your tongue, take the long view, move on. But no one in my immediate family is cruel, or daft, which I suppose makes a difference.

It’s going to be an interesting year. If Trump wins re-election, the Ds may have a post-McGovern catharsis, and that would be good for us all. For a while.

Thank you for one of the nicest and kindest sentiments expressed this season and, of course, I send the same feelings back to you and all our colleagues here at Ricochet, with the happy note that we here in the Panhandle had a perfectly lovely, warm, happy, and healthy good time with family and best friends. Exhibit A is respectfully offered below, and also offers a vivid reason additional reason we have enjoyed the last months of 2019 and, we hope, January 13 of the New Year!

I would offer an additional note, one of appreciation for Ricochet and all of its various and amazingly diverse and assorted offerings of articles, musings, arguments, but all (or, something approaching 95%, which, as they say, is close enough for Government work) offered with a sense of courtesy, professionalism and civility which is a true treasure in these times of such “tacky” conduct and discourse. As we all do, I have my favorites, and look for them almost every day, and to them, as well as all others, I say: Thank you for making this site a true joy for all of us.

I, also, look forward to the coming year, and pray that our Nation stays the course on November 3, and I say that as one who simply cannot imagine, in his wildest dreams, how anyone could vote for a single one of the menagerie on the Democrat side and pray that the President brings over enough of what may be left of good, solid, common sense Democrats to be re-elected. I have to believe that there are many such Democrats (I come from a family of long-time Louisiana Democrats, so should confess a little bias as I have seen that side of the party up close and personal, for many, many years) out there who just cannot stomach the Pelosi, Schiff, Schumer Gong Show.

Thank you and I hope all of you have a Great and Happy New Year, Jim.

and, we hope, January 13 of the New Year!

I’ve said before that I’m a proud Texas Aggie, and this year we have a lot of reasons (50 of them to be precise) to be p**sed off at LSU…

…but I’m also a proud Cajun, born and raised in Acadia Parish, so with that in mind: Geaux Tigers!
