It’s A Great Day to Be Alive

This amazing song is apparently turning 25 this year, the story of which is told here. I wish I could share this song and its sentiment to the hysterical masses that freak out daily about the environment, what Trump is tweeting, what AOC is saying, how hopeless and terrible things are to those who can’t live a good life if there is someone out there that dares to disagree with them.

Listen, I get that 2019 often seems to be peak crazy but life is also beautiful, it’s good, and being alive in 2019 is still much better than the alternative! Get off Twitter and Facebook. Go drive a fast car on a winding road, watch the surf come in on a beach, enjoy the colors of the leaves in the fall, attend a college football game, go out and listen to live music … whatever makes you realize that it is a great day, and time, to be alive.

If you haven’t heard this song, give it a listen; if you have heard it give it a re-listen and enjoy the brand new video.

Have a great day!

Concretevol: the story of which is told here.

Having had a broken back some years ago, I can certainly relate to not moving much for several days (or weeks).

    Great song.

I liked Travis Tritt’s version, too.

I wonder about the explanation for the differences between Scott’s current version and the older version performed by Tritt.  The new version adds some religious terms — “I’m feeling pretty good and that’s the Gospel truth” and “good God I guess he’s doin’ alright.”  These were absent in Tritt’s version.

I’m not sure what to make of it.  It may just be country-to-bluegrass transition, but it’s not as if country music has an aversion to references to God.

Great song, but I think I prefer the Travis Tritt version. But no matter who sings it, it’s true.

Optimism in the face of rising racism, inequality and climate degradation is something that only a heteronormative white supremacist would perpetrate.

Did anyone ever ask the child in the video about a preferred sexual identification? This choice-constricted child lost in a maze of genetically mutilated maize while a white man sings that all is well pretty much sums up Trump’s Amerika.

HaHa! That’s a little too on the nose. You sure that’s parody?

Parody, like all humor, is a form of rape.

Cheesy, corny, and sentimental; I love it!  This song has long been one of my favorites, I can’t understand why I haven’t made it part of my repertoire.  Be back in a bit.  Got something to do.

Yeah, it’s nice to hear a song where someone expresses gratitude for their life.  I never did like those country songs where someone is moaning about having to work for a living while others are wealthy.  My favorite song in this sub-type is “Big Time” by Big & Rich.    The message is you’ve got more money than me and that’s OK.  I’m having a blast, anyway.

Darrell Scott wrote the song so I am going with his version.  :)

I like Travis Tritt ok but he can’t even begin to carry Darrell’s guitar pick.
