‘I’m Melting! I’m Melting!’

This must be the cry the Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats are trying to stifle, following the hearing with Attorney General William Barr. While they can’t miss the fact that their whole case for taking down Donald Trump is crumbling, they are desperate to try to maintain their image of righteousness behind the curtain. But the curtain is slowly being drawn back, and I think they are realizing that they are all in deep trouble. In their collusion to destroy Donald Trump, they have ensured their own destruction, in part because they have underestimated AG Barr.

Due to the memo Mr. Barr sent several months ago, saying the Mueller probe was “legally unsupportable,” the Democrats have hated him. In spite of their criticism, he was still approved as Attorney General, but the Democrats weren’t happy. They have attacked him ever since. With his comments about the investigations that the DOJ is now conducting regarding the Russian probe, the Dems are either in full denial mode or carefully controlled hysteria. And it is showing in their fury toward Barr’s intransigence on their petty issues and his refusal to pander to them.

Several Democrats are now calling him a liar:

Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii has accused him of lying to Congress.

Sen. Michael Bennet has accused him of lying to Congress about what was in the Mueller report and demanded his resignation. Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, and Elizabeth Warren all have demanded his resignation, the latter calling him “a disgrace” and calling for his impeachment, as did Rep. Eric Swalwell.

It’s as if they are all trying to outdo each other in the condemnation of AG Barr.

Rep. Jerry Nadler of New York, chair of the Judiciary Committee threatened AG Barr with contempt of court if he doesn’t turn over the unredacted report. We all know how intimidated Barack Obama’s AG, Eric Holder, was by being held in contempt.

After insulting AG Barr for four hours in the Senate, he decided that he wasn’t going to submit to interviews by staffers of House members. Mr. Nadler had more to say:

Mr. Nadler said Mr. Barr’s refusal to show for the scheduled hearing, as well as President Trump’s broader refusal to cooperate with a slew of Democratic investigative requests, has left the government teetering.

He said Mr. Trump and his team represent a ‘clear and present danger to our constitutional order.’

Several Democrats told the media that Mr. Barr was a coward for refusing to attend the House Judiciary Committee hearing. And not to be outdone for the nastiest criticism, Rep. Ted Lieu called AG Barr the “most dangerous man in the nation’s capital.”

I am saddened and disgusted by the behavior of the Democrats. Unlike Donald Trump, AG Barr has been around the block and then some in terms of his government service. In his previous appointment as attorney general, he had plenty of opportunities to witness the machinations of the Senate and House. He has conducted himself professionally, with as much restraint as any man under attack possibly could, and he will not be intimidated or pushed out of office. As more news comes out about all the parties involved with the “Russian investigation,” I’m actually starting to believe that justice will be served. In fact, I would guess at this point, with the other fine work he is doing, AG Barr may be getting a certain satisfaction out of anticipating the Democrat meltdown.

The most effective antidote to the smearing of Barr will be turning some of the implicated (there are quite a few to choose from) to spell out the details of the corruption as a part of their plea agreement so the (D)/MSM combine will have a difficult time concocting/sustaining a “Barr is a corrupt partisan hack/Barr’s a Trumpy liar don’t believe him” narrative.

Excellent point, @user_54742, although some will say that they caved to save their skins. That doesn’t mean that what they say isn’t true.

If their testimony is supported by the available evidence and corroborated by the testimony of others let the (D)/MSM take their best shot.

I think Democrat efforts to oust AG Barr go beyond #Resistance to all things Trump: I think they actually fear him. They fear not that he will engage in retaliatory action, but that he will follow the law come what may.

Every day I pray extra helpings of wisdom and fortitude for Barr because I think Trump may have found the person who can accurately evaluate all the various threads of the tangled web woven by the last administration, and will do what needs done (as far as he can prove) and is best for the country.

As I’ve watched and listened to him I realize that he is operating on multiple levels: one of them is giving Americans a class in Proper US Attorney General 101 (bonus points to Barr for making me laugh with his expression/body language at the end of the clip):

That’s all some of us were wanting and despairing we would see: someone inside DOJ courageous enough to tackle the threat to our Republic posed by the department’s conduct, and by his/her presence remove politicians’ ability to use the department as a weapon (and that includes Donald Trump if he were to request retaliatory action not called for by US law.)

    Good post and sourcing, @susanquinn.

WAAAAAY off topic …. but it’s a peave …… the WWotW didn’t melt, she sublimated. Melting is passing from a solid state to a liquid state. Going from solid to gas as she did is sublimating.

Bob, You’re a nerd. Welcome to the R> gang.

You have to admit, though, “I’m sublimating, I’m sublimating!!” isn’t quite as punchy.

I was going to pass on my Ricochet “going off topic” trophy to Bob …. I’ve been holding it too long.

“Hon.” before Barr’s name visible in the photograph is for Honorable. It means Barr should be treated honorably, in questioning and in refraining from making unsubstantiated accusations without even giving the Attorney General a chance to respond after a long harangue. By doing so, they are treating Barr dishonorably, and they are bringing dishonor onto themselves, the people they represent and the country.

I completely agree, @raykujawa. It’s pathetic. Someone called for Nancy Pelosi to apologize to AG Barr, but I’m not holding my breath. They don’t realize, as you indicate, that they are degrading themselves when they behave this way.

It wouldn’t.  An emulsion is a mixture of two or more liquids that are normally immiscible.  Totally different thing.
