You’ll Have to Shoot Your Way Out…

Sliding into socialism is so easy. Just vote for more free stuff. For yourself, of course, but since you’re such a generous sort, you also vote for free stuff for others as well. Doesn’t cost you a thing. Well, nothing that’s immediately obvious. Whatever. And before you know it, socialism just sort of happens. In fact, by the time you notice, it’s already happened. It’s easy to get into. But hard to get out of. As Mr. Peterson so succinctly explains:

Great quote.  And the socialist true believers know this, and are delighted by it, as it means they’ll hold onto power for a good long time once they get it.

Although the reality is that most of them will not be the ones to hold that power, they will be the victims of it. I bet many who voted for Chavez are now regretting it, if they’re smart enough.

We can hope that events in Venezuela will shine a light on the loads of negative impacts brought to that country by socialism. And it is clear that the end does not come peacefully through elections. We need to figure out a way to get our people to pay attention and relate these events to the programs espoused by the Democrat Party. Interesting to see how accurate and extensive media reporting will be.

They won’t get it or admit it. “But that wasn’t real socialism!” To tie it back to another thread, they want socialism like those Scandinavian countries. You know, the ones that list highest for property rights.

Okay, I’m obviously having a You Kids Get Off My Lawn day, I dropped Netflix and watched Monster Party (it actually has a competent final act, I was amazed). They call it horror but in my current mood I thought it came off as just slightly edgier than the Dick Van Dyke Invasion of the Body Snatchers episode.

And with that as my current gauge, I still just don’t see the humor in helpless protestors being gunned down by the government that already stripped them naked and dumped them in the street using Twinkies to lure them into the open.

I think I’ll just unplug the keyboard until it passes.

Petersen’s Tweet also sums up the unmentioned (by the left) basis for the ongoing battle over Second Amendment rights in the U.S.

People who think they should be able to tell everyone what to do and how to lead their lives via an all-encompassing government don’t tolerate dissenters very well. But before you can feel comfortable having your troops fire on your opponents, you want to be comfortable in the knowledge your opponents don’t have the ability to fire back.

The Founders wanted a dispersion of firearms everywhere. It was obviously a good idea. 400 million and counting.

The thing is Venezuela has gobs of oil indeed that’s among the reasons they got where they are. At first there was enough for almost everyone. Not so much after Chavez and Maduro but still enough  to buy support from a third of people.  But the Cubans who run the place need half of what’s left.  Back to the topic we were heading there fast and the far left is educating our kids.  Not good.   Advanced socialism on the developed west is more fascist and we don’t know how that works out in the long run because the last bunch went to war with the rest of us. I find it very scary and it’s getting worse as they’ve taken over public schools. We have a whole wing of anti fascists worried more about Trump’s language than what’s happening.

Scary business and why I don’t laugh off AOC who has declared herself to be in charge. There are too many who would like to make her so.

I just saw a refugee from Venezuela on Fox news. He made a brilliant point. We aren’t just talking about socialism here. Their central bank went completely nuts printing money. He warned Americans about this new thing called Modern Monetary Theory. It’s a new leftist excuse for printing money to pay for all of their socialist central planning nonsense. They want to magically get us out of all of our debt and unfunded liabilities so they can impose more socialism on us, even though that’s the problem that got us the unfunded liabilities and debt.

MMT is really weird, and they make it sounds like it works, no problem. What’s this guy said was it’s having the central bank pay for everything and then you control inflation with taxation. Well all of that is done at the point of a gun, obviously. They push people around. They force things around with bribes, and then they pointed a gun at you and tax you more. As if this worked in the Soviet Union.

Just to be clear, there is an economist by the name of Steve Keen that some of them point to, but that guy is not talking about MMT, and I highly doubt Congress is smart enough an honest enough to do with that guy is saying.
