Forgiveness-wise we’re in a tough area here. According to Luke 17:2, Matthew 18:6 and Mark 9:42 Jesus says that those who corrupt the lives of innocent children are better off dead.  I mean, if Jesus Himself openly says somebody sucks, how am I expected to get all brotherly and forgiving of somebody even Jesus doesn’t like?

Maybe we Ricochetti Catholics should start a GoFundMe page for the purchase of rope, millstones and a boat.  A big boat.

This abuse goes far beyond the Catholic Church. But the Catholic Church seems to get the headlines. Perhaps they can show others the way of making this right, or perhaps they ought to. A priest in a WSJ opinion article recently recommended a way to do that.

What a tragedy. The people who prey upon the younger persons in their congregation often deliberately choose those who are already in harm’s way, due to an absentee father, low income status and other indications that the selected child or teen won’t have anyone to turn to.

In Calif we have a law that doubles the penalties for any health care worker who commits a crime against an elderly person in their care. This definitely needs to become legal code over church officials of all religions who use their position of “divine authority” and the respect the community showers on them, to sexually assault younger people in their care.

And should a bishop or other person in higher authority look the other way, rather than penalize the offending priest or minister,  they need to have legal penalties imposed on them as well.

This keeps happening again and again. First the diocese of Boston in the 1990’s made headlines and then other regions in the Aughts and now PA in 2018.

There is no way the Catholic Church is going to make this right, until there is a substantial clearing away of any and all cardinals, bishops and monseignors who are part of the problem.
