Quote of the Day: Nikki Haley on Right and Wrong

Nikki Haley is an indomitable force at the United Nations. She has repeatedly called the UN on its immoral and biased actions. She has attacked it for publishing misleading information; she has “taken names” of those countries that refuse to support the US and yet support terrorist organizations; she has criticized the UN for misusing funds. She has called out Iran for supporting groups that use human shields; she was instrumental in the US withdrawing from the UN Human Rights Council.

I look for any opportunity to celebrate a high-level US official who stands up to lies, abuse, mismanagement, deception, and immorality. Nikki Haley more than fits the bill.

The United States has no moral duty to be neutral between right and wrong. On the contrary, we have a moral duty to take sides, even when that means standing alone . . .

It cannot be the case that in an organization with 193 countries, the United Nations spends half of its time attacking only one country. We will not turn a blind eye to it. Our demand for fairness for Israel is actually a demand for peace. The UN’s bias against Israel has long undermined peace, by encouraging an illusion that Israel will go away. Israel is not going to go away.

Would she please run for president?

    In 2020!

We need Nikki Haley where she is until the job of rooting out evil in the UN is finished.

We need Scott Walker where he is because if he moves on, we’d end up with a Democrat governor again, and the last one did severe destruction to our state.

We need President Trump where he is for a full two terms.

These people are doing good work for our country. Why so eager to bring it to a halt?!

The only way to do that is to kick all the bad actors out.  If that can’t be done, then the good guys should leave . . .

I’m torn about actually leaving. By being a member, we can at least keep an eye on them and call them out when they behave badly. We can do that most effectively from the inside.

I don’t believe that any other country (or the USA under a Democrat administration) would send someone remotely like Ambassador Haley to the UN. Her appointment is a reminder of the importance of America to the right-thinking people of the World and also of the many admirable characteristics of the GOP.

Good point, @charlesmark! And we do it, knowing that many of the men in the UN probably hold disdain for women, too. Too bad for them!

Maybe we should say “But, Haley”.

    ??

Oh, many an anti-Trump person is unhappy with the “But, Gorsuch” answer to whatever the complaint de jour is.

Nikki Haley is great. Trump did well with her selection. Haley/Walker in 2020!

So you are for disloyalty. Nice.

No, we need Trump again in 2020 so he can twist the knife in the corpse of the left.  After that, Nikki can run for Prez, then stomp on the left’s corpse with her always stylish boots . . .

I have the opposite view.  I wouldn’t join a country club if half the members were racist bigots.  Likewise, I don’t think we should belong to an organization that gives legitimacy to murderous dictatorships and commies . . .

Yeah, but we’re not talking about playing a round of golf with a bunch of jerks; we’re talking about the state of the world and the fools who try to run it. And there are lots of country clubs around but only one UN. So there.

It is fun to watch Nikki stick it ’em!

Nonetheless, I think it’s time to get out and take our money with us.  Trump could say, “We’re going to fully fund the school lunch program, unlike my predecessor.”

Then sit back and watch the liberals on TV sputter as they try to say what a horrible thing he’s doing . . .

And there are lots of country clubs around but only one UN.

And you’ve just hit on the problem.

We should form a new UN, one where the nations are truly united in core principles of human decency and rights, one where there are no dues other than paying for periodic meetings at locations around the world.  It would be like these G-# meetings, or international trade organization meetings.  International organizations other than the UN are numerous – not as numerous as country clubs, but there are bunches . . .
