Rest in Peace, Barbara Bush

He called her “Bar.” She called her wrinkles “service stripes.” Her white hair matched her pearls. Like Abigail Adams, she was both a wife and a mother to a President. Statement by George W. Bush:

My dear mother has passed on at age 92. Laura, Barbara, Jenna, and I are sad, but our souls are settled because we know hers was. Barbara Bush was a fabulous First Lady and a woman unlike any other who brought levity, love, and literacy to millions. To us, she was so much more. Mom kept us on our toes and kept us laughing until the end. I’m a lucky man that Barbara Bush was my mother. Our family will miss her dearly, and we thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.

From Barbara Bush: A Memoir:

At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent.

I would wager she had no regrets. Barbara Bush was 92.

There are certain people we wish we could meet and spend time with.  Barbara Bush was one of those people.  She came across so real, sincere, yet an amazing sense of humor.  She seemed to enjoy laughing.  Her heart seemed to be full of love.

    She’ll be missed.

She was a class act. She didn’t let anyone demean her. She had high standards, and held others to a high standard. I’ve enjoyed listening to news people recall their encounters with her as I drove around doing errands this afternoon. I appreciated her work with literacy and her focus on being an outstanding mother.

How wonderful it has been for that gaggle of grandchildren to have grown up with those two as grandparents? How great for us to have so many records of her remarkable life, and to see how much she and President Bush loved each other so much after 73 years together?

A good woman and passed.  Tomorrow will be a little bit dimmer with her passing.  I look for the internet / twitter to be insufferable as they tear her down.

Rest in Peace, dear sweet First Lady.

Peace and comfort to all the Bush family.

She set the tone from the beginning with the most important thing first – family.  She showed how very important the roles of wives and mothers are – and from there sprung all the rest – a great woman and family – God bless Barbara Bush.
