Trump Hires Ricochet Contributor as Top Economic Advisor
The road to the White House goes through Ricochet. From Politico:
Larry Kudlow will be the next director of the National Economic Council, succeeding Gary Cohn as President Donald Trump’s top economic adviser, a person close to the matter said on Wednesday.
Trump offered the job to Kudlow, a CNBC personality who has been a regular outside adviser to the president, over the phone Tuesday night while Kudlow was at dinner at Cipriani restaurant in Manhattan, the person said. Kudlow accepted.
During the call, Trump said he was seeing Kudlow’s photo on television and told him: “You’re looking handsome, Larry.”

I’m pretty sure Kudlow doesn’t think tariffs are a good idea. Hopefully he can convince his economically illiterate new boss of that fact.
They are both inflationists. Kudlow is embarrassing in this sense. He excuses everything the Fed does all the time. Larry is probably more creative and informed on how to pull it off, though.
Good.
Does that make us co-conspirators in Trump-Russia collusion? Should I prepare my testimony for Mr. Mueller?
I guess all of that praising of Trump during the primaries that half of us thought was ludicrous finally paid off.
Da, tovarich.

So, I’m still in the running for Comms Director? Cool.
So what you are telling me is that we won’t have any more Kudlow appearances on Ricochet anymore. Doesn’t seem worth the trade.
Congratulations to Mr. Kudlow – I hope he does a great job – so many changes on so many levels, and much needed. Interesting way to get a job…..a phone call from the President while you’re eating in a restaurant? Wonder if he ordered some cake and champagne after that call!
They just might get more interesting….
Larry Kudlow, Kevin Hassett and Mick Mulvaney.
James Mattis, Mike Pompeo, Nikki Haley and H.R. McMaster (maybe John Bolton?).
Some New York liberal this Trump guy is.
Kudlow has just the right gentlemanly capitalist swagger and Reaganite common sense.
Perfect, perfect pick!
Vat did you know, und ven did you know it? Mr. Monkey, you’re looking at hard time . . .
Congratulations to Larry! I’m so happy, I want to bear his children. Unfortunately, the operation isn’t scheduled for months . . .
Kudlow worked for Reagan when Reagan directed Paul Volker to kill off inflation no matter what the political cost. Then he went to CNBC and radio and he became a creature of the financial system. He never cared one wit about any asset bubble. I’m not saying he won’t improve things, or maybe even improve things a lot, but those are the facts.
Well, we thought it was ludicrous then. But what did Kudlow contend? That Trump was a “pretty conservative guy” and was the only candidate who could beat Clinton and the media.
In retrospect, are we supposed to view that as ludicrous or remarkably accurate and more than a little gutsy?
A just reward for an extended period of support for Trump. They are good buddies. That’s politics.
Kudlow is a bit too much of a monetarist for my taste but at least he isn’t a Keynesian. He’ll be better than some of the younger hot shot economists who have yet to learn that they don’t really know as much as they think.
Congratulations. And as someone newly unemployed…If hes looking for a political legbreaker I am available. I could totally staff out most of his administration and I wont leak to the washington post like Reince did.
Why Politico? Why not just get your news from genereefereferee?
:-)
Don’t hate. It’s all in good fun.
That’s only because I turned it down, in the hopes that I’ll soon be getting the SecDef post.
ATF.
This is very good news. But I wonder how long it’ll be before he hears “YOU’RE FIRED.”

Don’t forget to go back and delete all those naysaying predictions and misreadings of all things Trumpian.
I’m saving mine for the midterms.
I’ll wait until we see what finally happens with tariffs before I answer that.
Kudlow will be better than Cohn. However, now that the tax cuts are done, what is he going to do. From what I can tell, all Kudlow cares about is tax cuts.
I’ll wait until we see what finally happens with
the cabinet.I’ll wait until we see what finally happens with
the actual court appointments.I’ll wait until we see what finally happens when

repealing the insurance mandate.I’ll wait until we see what finally happens with
Trump supporting a major entitlement reform.I’ll wait until we see what finally happens with
Trump proposing a massive new childcare entitlement. When Trump’s trade war turns out to be a politically motivated set of tariffs smaller than Bush’s with massive exemptions, what’s next on the list, Joe?
LOL
Hey as one of thew people who predicted he would win a few days before the election, I feel I am already ahead of most people around Trump.
If there is a God.
