Canadian Univ. Bureaucrats Destroy Lindsay Shepherd

For any of you who know people who still do not believe that the university system in the Northern Hemisphere is anything but a repository of Left-Think-ism, this video will change their minds:

Higher education is no longer about any type of actual thinking process or debate. Now due to the incessant demands of the left and the restrictions of the PC universe-Uber-Alles, the world of academia is only about avoiding — in total — any discussion of what an opposing side to the PC universe might consist of.

Here is a meeting between teaching assistant Lindsay Shepherd and Wilfrid Laurier University representatives. Shepherd was called in for violating the school’s Gendered and Sexual Violence policy by screening a few minutes of a TV Ontario program which questioned the use of gender-neutral pronouns.

Notice the guilt by association that the university officials immediately try to bring into the discussion to shame Ms. Shepherd into abandoning a teacher’s universal right to have a debate. “Do you need to realize that one of the people who takes that same side of the argument that you present is a White Supremacist, who has done this and that awful thing, including publishing personal info about his detractors in order to have people contact and perhaps injure or kill such detractors?” (So, therefore, you should not go near that side of the debate.) And unfortunately, the “guilt by association” is not the only logical fallacy that the officials employ by which to unnerve this young teacher.

The university officials will not even show her the complaint by which they have the right to punish her! And toward the end of the officials’ spiel, the officials point out that these “students are very young”… “they do not possess the logical tools by which they could take an argument or debate apart.”

Well holy hell, how the heck will the “children” at that university ever learn how to take apart a debate if no teacher there can ever present two sides of any issue?

The fact that the people conducting the interview have power or control over anything or anybody is most disturbing. A very frightening audio.

This story first hit the news in Canada last November. The University apologized in an open letter as did one of the professors involved. Without the recording this happy ending might not have come about. A sad and disgraceful incident.

There is no evidence whatsoever that she said anything about segregation, I suspect this is a case of mistaken identity.

Good to read. But I have to admit that I find this part creepy:

Laurier is prepared to engage with these important discussions in a thoughtful and determined way. I have announced a task force to delve into these issues. Further details will be announced in the days ahead.

The big problem to address (and they probably won’t) is how in the world this minor small story became a big story at all. As Dennis Prager says, those who won’t fight evil will find themselves fighting those who do.

NBC News with Lester Holt tonight portrayed this with audio from her saying some races are less intelligent – or something to that effect – and that she was making comments that in some cases, segregation isn’t bad. Either it was taken out of context or there’s more here than we think. Is it possible that she did veer from the curriculum that wasn’t approved? I don’t know anything about it – this post was the first I heard of it, then the news tonight.

Was that about Lindsay Sheppard, or that teacher in Florida that just got fired?

My apologies – you are right – different person – thank you for pointing that out.
