Listen to DC — Not That DC: DC McAllister

I did an interview on my podcast today with Ricochet’s own D.C. McAllister that I thought was worth a special mention. I met Denise at a Ricochet gathering a while back and was so impressed with her warmth, wit, and intelligence that I invited her on the show without any clear notion of what we would discuss. It turned out to be one of the best interviews I’ve done. There comes a point where plain commonsense becomes wisdom, and Denise has reached that point. It was so refreshing to hear her speak, I thought I should make sure the rest of Ricochet didn’t miss the chance. Hit the link. You won’t be sorry.

Just finished listening to it a minute ago. Then I log into Ricochet and there’s your mug. I’m still humming “…life is tickety-boo…”.

She is very impressive, very moving.  I always listen to your show a couple of times through, can’t wait to hear this again.

Never miss your stuff, can’t wait to listen. Also, Klavan hits up Rico meetups? Gonna have to find out what label of scotch they served to get you there…

Yes, DC is a keeper!  Very good interview.  There are a lot of voices these days so it’s especially nice to hear someone who articulates one’s own point of view and do it so well.

I heard her on Whiskey Politics last week. I was impressed with her then. Now, seeing her, I am both impressed and awed. As said above by @SonofBarsham, your podcast is one that I never miss. There is a quality to your wisdom that your two younger colleagues, though both exceedingly bright, simply won’t have for many years to come. I started watching you on the PJMedia podcasts that you did with Bill Whittle. He always spoke of you in terms of deep respect. Having been a fan now for a few years, I can only say that he was absolutely correct. Your wisdom and integrity combined are really inspirational.

Thank you so very much, @andrewklavan As always it was a delight to talk with you and discuss these important issues. You are gracious in every way. Thank you for your wisdom and, as we discussed, your masculine strength.

It’s time we stop beating up on men and start valuing them, not just for their sake but for us all. Our country will not survive if men are demeaned, demonized, and emasculated.

Thank you, Eugene. And I echo your comments about Andrew. Wisdom is too often missing in our discourse today. One reason for that is our glorification of youth, people who are bright and valued but stilll inexperienced and greatly shaped by a millennial mindset that is often unmoored from the meta-narrative of human experience (thank you, postmodernism!). We need more voices like Andrew’s, especially his ability to weave together culture, religion, and politics so skillfully and with extraordinary depth.

I don’t really listen to podcasts (its the medium, not the author), but I’ve been a fan of DC McCallister’s articles for awhile now, and I thank you for putting her on your show.

My wife and I met DC during the Charlotte Meetup in April 2014.  Aside: We also ran into Melissa “6foot2inhighheels” Praemonitus.  Easy to spot, being . . . so danged tall!

Denise’s writing always went straight to the heart.  Her piece on abortion was a keeper, a story about how personal “pro-choice” becomes when it’s your choice.

Any time we drive through Charlotte to go somewhere else, we always give a token wave to DC, even though she never sees it . . .

Well, I fell asleep last night but listening now. DC, what a life story, and well delivered point of view.

Thank you for sharing, @dcmcallister, and for the example you offer, to your children, and the community.

D.C. was great as usual. However I would like to give you some business advice. I was making a sandwich today as I listened. Because of that I listened to the end including the credits. All I can say is Andy I think you can fire the hair consultant.

More intentional friendly fire from John Podhoretz.

Is that why the website is named Ricochet?

I think it’s time to bury the hatchet and stop the in-fighting. I don’t know what prompted this yesterday but I’m trying to ignore attacks. Otherwise my Irish temper will get out of control and I’ll end up apologizing for a personal attack back.

We have a lot to fight on the Left. We need to stop firing at each other, especially shots in the back.
