Jewish on my wife’s side.  Just came back from my mother-in-law’s.  Very nice evening.  Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate it.

Thanks, Mama Toad and everyone else! It’s a very special time and I love the Maccabeats! Chag Samayach to all my Jewish friends, too.

When I was an undergraduate,  the Latke-Hamantash Debate was a highlight of the holiday season. I tended to favor the hamantashen, the triangular underdog.

Hamentashen are good for noshin’, but if you’d had my latkes last night you would know there’s no contest.

I make them with gold potatoes, sweet potatoes, egg and matzo meal. Homemade applesauce and sour cream… simply perfect…
