I used to be part of the “if no welfare, we can do whatever”, sorry that’s not the case. Also welfare is a much more complicated problem, while immigration is much more simple, either in or out.
We act as if it’s complicated but it’s not. Welfare on the other hand is like a drug. People are addicted to the dole, and in many cases throughly corrupted.
Additionally, we would be providing welfare to illegal immigrants, event if there were no free housing, checks, and food. Our legal system and our much more predictable stable culture provides a large benefit for anyone who lives in it. Kidnapping is not a problem here like it is down South. Cartels are not a problem like it is down south. Though it is creeping in.
Education is welfare too. Billions of dollars a year are wasted in bilingual education in exchange for arts and stem.
Billions of dollars a year are also wasted on special education, since the particular supply line does not value education in any meaningful way.

As to immigration, just do what Arizona did. You don’t need a wall. Just make it impossible for an illegal not to get a job, and they will go home.
I was unsure if I could vote for Trump before I watched this add. It convinced me I must vote for Trump to put my thumb in the eye of all those losers.
