The Cloaked Gaijin: Well, Ann Coulter the pragmatist…….

Ann Coulter told us Romney was the man in 2012. She was wrong then and she’s wrong now.

I was referring to Ann Coulter 2011, not Ann Coulter 2016.

And question whether his religion is as good as Trump’s.

As a presbyterian… I have my doubts about Trump’s presbyterianism.

How can you doubt it?  Trump declared it 5 times in the space of 6 sentences.

Good point.  I suppose since we’re taking everything out of Trump’s mouth as the gospel truth… and the IRS did target him, after all.

This is just sad.  Apparently a play on Carson’s pride.  Has to be some serious quid pro quo going on here.  Nice job selling out your supporters Ben.  Please go away now and take Christie, Palin and most of Fox News with you.

Boy #5 is pretty hilarious when you think about it.  Nice job Ben.

Is it at all possible that Ben Carson believes in Trump? Many good people that I can’t understand support Trump. Maybe he’s just one of them.

I don’t see how that is possible. Carson not only knows everything we know about Trump’s character, but he also was on the receiving end of some of Trump’s viciousness.

Much more likely is that this endorsement is meant to hurt Cruz, against whom Carson probably harbors a burning hot resentment. Endorsing Trump is the adult equivalent of hitting Cruz with a hammer or stabbing him.

To date, I haven’t seen Trump’s supposed deal-making savvy much in evidence.  But apparently he can make the deal with someone who wants to sell their soul.  That particular deal sounds vaguely familiar to me.

By the way, I don’t think Fox is in the tank for Trump.  Hannity and Eric Bolling maybe.  But not Baier, Guttfeld, O’Reilly, Smith, Kurtz, or Wallace.  And certainly not Megyn Kelly.

Entirely fair question. If Carson “believes in Trump,” then Carson clearly lacks integrity, consistency and analytical thought. Otherwise, he’s an opportunist, which I believe to be the safer bet. Thus my profound disappointment.

Larry, Trump pretty much has a permanent spot on Fox and Friends. Bolling and Dobbs are openly campaigning for him. O’Reilly made out with trump after the last Fox debate then afterword only asked Cruz and Rubio questions about trump. Tantaros and Greta are two more enthusiasts. It’s actually gotten embarrassing how Hannity fawns over Trump and Coulter.

Fair enough.  Technically, Dobbs is on Fox Business, not Fox News.  And technically, Hannity was embarrassing for all kinds of reasons long before he discovered Trump.  I never listen to Greta, and I never pay attention to Tantaros, so I’ll take your word for it on those two.  But I still think there is plenty of barely disguised horror at the thought of a Trump candidacy over at Fox News.

On Fox Business News, the two shows I watch regularly are Kennedy and Stossel.  They are skeptical of pretty much all politicians, and are definitely not on the Trump Train.

Bret Baier, Chris Wallace, Megyn Kelly, and a few others have managed to do their jobs as journalists. The commentators on Baier’s show tend to be anti-Trump. But I would estimate that a majority of Fox employees are in the tank for Trump.

ETA: Kurtz’s recent one-on-one with Trump at his Florida resort made me cringe. I don’t think Kurtz is a supporter and yet his behavior toward Trump was almost obsequious.

Trump makes every straight interview into a hostile encounter. Remember when Hugh Hewitt asked him about his tax returns and Trump answered with, “No one listens to your radio show. Seriously, the ratings are terrible.”

If he is asked a straight question he deflects into his usual talking points on subjects that are only tangentially related.

To my knowledge, no one has asked him a “gotcha” question, and they should. He should be asked something like, “Do you think the 10th amendment applies to the debate over Common Core, and if so, how?” He would probably answer with “We don’t win any more. China is killing us on trade.”

That made me laugh out loud. You’re right, though. I watched Kurtz interview him this morning and Wallace tonight. They both just let him yammer on uninterrupted.

Hugh did ask him about the nuclear triad, and Trump obviously hadn’t the faintest idea what that was.  Ask him about substance and you can see the deer in the headlights look in his eyes, before he changes the subject.
