What Did He Do to Chris Christie?

Seriously, no sarcasm. Watch this with only your emotional antennae, take the words and the context out of it, and just look at his face.

This is how he usually looks, just to compare.

He looks as if he’s aged ten years overnight. He looks broken and frightened. Look at his eyes, his skin. His voice is flat and emotionless. I get it if he’s feeling buyer’s remorse. In his shoes, I’d sure be thinking, “What on earth have I done?” But he’s a professional politician. He’s used to giving ten speeches a day that he doesn’t really mean and he’s not in the mood to give. If you’ve been in the public light for as long as he’s been, you’re an old pro: You know that the show must go on.

Seems like the Dementors got him. Soul sucked right out of him. Do you see that?

I find it fascinating that Trump decided to have Christie play such a big part in his victory speech/press conference.  What do you think is the psychology behind that decision?  Do you think that it was focus-group tested?

I don’t think that it’s Trump’s psychology at work.  I doubt that he included Christie either out of gratitude, or out of a desire to have someone standing by him.  Trump doesn’t seem to have any aversion to giving a solo performance.

So I think that Trump, or his advisers, must think that having Christie play such a major part will give Trump an electoral advantage.  The image is that Trump does not stand alone, that another well-known and important GOP leader is on Trump’s team.

Either that or Trump is telling everyone, “I now own this guy and I will soon own you!”

I am pretty sure that is the face Darth Vader had under his mask when the Emperor was killing Luke Skywalker.

If that was the goal, I think it backfired.

I think Trump wanted to hold Christie up like a deep sea fisherman might pose in front of a big catch. He’s trying to demoralize his competitors by showing off his latest conquest.

Focus group? Perhaps something as subsurface as David Axelrod and his group ASK at work.  That’s what he does.  Look at Axelrod as the Consigliere for the Clintonmafia.  He has made to Christie an offer he couldn’t refuse.  Trump previously found a horsehead in his bed, thus he’s doing what he’s doing – which will result, one way or another in Hillary’s win. (All this is “so to speak”- I don’t mean to impugn the reputation of the Sicilian Mafia).
