Matzo Balls vs. McRibs

indexLaw Talk fans rejoice, part two. Richard and John’s favorite lunch spot, the legendary Carnegie Deli, re-opened yesterday after a mysterious 10-month closure. By chance, I was walking near the deli when I saw a line outside. Already salivating at the thought, I rushed to the door and was not disappointed.

Everything seemed the same. Perfect matzo ball chicken soup and a massive reuben that tasted as good as I remembered. Now if McDonald’s would only add the McRib to the menu permanently, all would be right with the culinary universe.

The beauty of the McRib is that it’s an elusive unicorn.

If it was a permanent menu item it would lose all of its mystique.

Stick to constitutional law, you diseased maniac!

Ribs are to fine dining what McRibs are to fast food.

I’ll just say that a massive Reuben sounds really good right now.

    John Yoo: Balls

While I hesitate to offer instruction to a man with the wisdom to favor torture for terrorists and hail the McRib as the pinnacle of human achievement, I feel I must step in for your own good John.  While the Carnegie is a perfectly good stop in touristy sort of way, the authentic NY deli experience is better enjoyed at 2nd Avenue Deli or Katz’s.
