Breaking: Explosion, Shootings Reported in Paris

From the BBC:

An attack on a bar in the French capital, Paris, has caused several casualties, French media report.

At least one man opened fire with an automatic gun at the Cambodge restaurant in the 11th district.

Liberation newspaper says four people have been killed. It also reports shootings elsewhere. There is no official confirmation.

An explosion is also reported to have targeted a bar near Stade de France, where France were hosting Germany.

A BBC journalist at the scene says he can see 10 people on the road either dead or seriously injured.
He says police have now arrived.

It’s OK, POTUS just delivered statement of solidarity.

“We share in France the principals of Life, Liberty and the …er…. pursuit of happiness. Also…er…. Liberte, Fraternite, …er.. Egalite.”

    Yep, that’s our guy.

    Not kidding.

Notwithstanding the level of coordination, the timing suggests revenge for Jihadi John. I pray that nothing more is in store in the rest of the West.

You gotta give our president credit: he never gets it right. At least he hasn’t broken his perfect record of always saying the wrong thing at the wrong time to the wrong people.

(That said, he did give a good speech in Boston at the Boston Marathon bombing.)

Edit: I had heard from a friend that Obama had said that he wasn’t going to call Hollande because Hollande was most likely too busy. So I wrote my note above in response to that. I just heard Obama’s official remarks, and they were the right thing to say. :)

The theater where they took hostages was hosting the “Eagles of Death Metal” (they don’t actually play death metal).

They’re an American band from California.

I love all humanity too.  And I’ll worry about them once I see that the actual people I know and love are safe.  In the meantime, humanity can take care of itself.

It seemed as if he were completely winging it.

Can’t really fault him for trying to provide comforting words to allies.

    Said allies as yet undetermined.

All the Berlinskis are accounted for — my brother is also in town because my father just had heart surgery. None of us were near the site of the attacks. I slept through everything, having had a very long day. I hear sirens in the distance now, but they wouldn’t have woken me up had my brother not called. I’ll read all the news now and see if I can add anything helpful to what you’re hearing.

Not to worry –  all France needs is “bomb control.”   Just make the bombs illegal.  Duh.

Yes. Although, clearly a large swath of humanity has very different values indeed.

We should take anything CNN says with a grain of salt. Maybe several. I remember on 9/11 they reported many things during that dark day, many of them untrue.

Perhaps France needs to start funding a serious military budget and stop relying on the rest of the world to fight her battles. This has been going on for far too long (since WWII) and the rest of the West is dead broke from supporting the parasitic.
