I Am a Victim

I am a victim of a hate crime.  And it came in the mail:

You see, despite the fact that I had a birthday this week, I identify as a much younger person.  In fact, I identify as a person between 30 and 37, and I really have to insist that you all go along with that.

Meanwhile, I’m dealing with the hurt and anger over this act of insensitivity at the hands of AARP aggressors, and contemplating legal action.

Rob, I felt insulted too when I got my AARP info in the mail right at moment of turning 50-like that’s not traumatic enough! I thought, am I on some sort of “list”????

I swore like a truck driver and ripped it up-tossed into trash.  Then I was at the eye doctor waiting my turn-someone was getting some attention and the clerk asked, “Do you have an AARP Card? If you do, you get 20% off….. All pride went out the window and I sent in my $12 for membership. The magazines are a good read, but don’t sign up for emails – you will get bombarded with spam. We are on the younger side of baby boomers – I laughed when my 57 year old husband on his birthday got mail that said, “Did you know you qualify for government discount on funeral arrangements”” Really? No wonder our country’s in debt. Get all the discounts you can and count backwards on your birthday from here on out!
