An Embrace in Paris
John Kerry offered a “big hug” to Paris, bringing along soft rocker James Taylor to comfort France after the recent terror attacks. In the event of future violence, the U.S. Secretary of State left behind an eight-track to remind them that America cares.
There’s soft power, and then there’s Silly Putty power.
I highly recommend what I did last night: pop a beer and watch the hug over and over to the audio of President Obama slow-jamming the news on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
This goes beyond stupidity. It has to be malice.
I am embarrassed. The English often used trait names for their monarchs (Edward the Confessor, Æthelred the Unready, Edward the Black Prince). If we did that today it would be Barack the Unserious and his courtier John the Superficial.
