A Founder’s Birthday — Rob Long
My friend — and yours — Peter Robinson is celebrating his birthday today. That’s him and his family in the photo above, congratulating the very first Thatcher level Ricochet member.
Well, “celebrating” may be putting it too grandly. I haven’t asked him, but I know him well enough to guess that at least part of him is ambivalent about the passage of time. He’s a conservative, after all. He likes to stand athwart history — and creaking joints and wrinkles — and shout, “Stop!”
But he’s also a deeply religious guy — one of the many, many reasons I admire him so much — and I know that he sees getting older as a natural, even beautiful, part of our lives. If you want to build something meaningful, raise a loving and large family, have an impact on your country, and gather a large and deeply-held group of friends — all of which, by the way, Peter has accomplished in spades — well, getting a little older and wearing a few more wrinkles is a tiny price to pay.
So, join me in wishing my friend and co-founder, and our fellow member, the happiest of birthdays. And many many many more.

Belated birthday wishes, Peter! A blessed year ahead!
Happy Birthday, Peter!
Wait, I thought Mr. Robinson was born with his distinguished salt-and-pepper hair color. What an intellect, and what a gentleman.
And, Rob, hurry back to the podcasts. They’re just not the same without your Hollywood RINO squishiness.
By the way, either you, Lileks, and Robinson or the LawTalk guys need to create a photoshop of the major characters in The Ten Commandments.
A bit late, but, happy birthday, Peter!
Happy Birthday, belatedly, from an envious Thatcher-admirer.
Better late than never. Happy birthday!
On the 18th of April in ’57, hardly a man today is livin’ who remembered the import of that year; just 182 years before- during the nation’s very first true war….
Never mind. Happy birthday, and always eat tender steak with Revere silverware!
Cheers from down under mate. (OK, Brownsville isn’t exactly down under).
