Ramblings
A thread of loose thoughts. Let’s pull some strings together.
The lad is home from the sea and out of the war zone. The old man didn’t have any hot water for his shower this morning and it was glorious.
This is the second time in two trips that the airlines have managed to lose his sea bag. It’s military green and stamped with the letters USN, so I’m beginning to wonder if it’s deliberate. The two weeks since the Hamas attack in Israel has revealed something that many of us have feared: We have deliberately imported a hostile army of anti-American, anti-Western, and anti-Semitic foreigners in the name of diversity and cheap labor. Buy guns and ammo, kids, it’s gonna get ugly.
The loss of the luggage is tolerable, dealing with the so-called “customer service” departments of the airlines is enough to give any sane person a stroke. The Navy sent him home last night and engaged three carriers to do it. He flew Aegean Air from Crete to Athens, took United from Athens to Dulles and then was booked on American from Reagan to home. For some stupid reason, United sent half his luggage to American and the other half to the carousel for pickup. For two hours last night, United sent me to American, American sent me to United, United sent me back to American. And then Delta got involved.
At least someone got a laugh out of it. But the Mumbai to Manila Mazurka isn’t funny at all. It took me until well after midnight to find a native English speaker and someone who could understand and answer direct questions. Is it really customer “service” at this point?
Speaking of Twitter/X posts, I did ask this question yesterday: Has anyone seen the Opposition Leader of Canada and the new Speaker of the US House in the same place at the same time?
And, in addition to the imported ingrates, our education system from kindergarten through grad school is doing its best to create our own home-grown anti-American ingrates. In fact, it seems the left-wing political indoctrination is the only thing the majority of the education system are capable of or care about.
The voice is pretty close too.
The sea bag has been found! At United/Dulles. Someone called the boy’s phone from the tag attached and it will be flown to Ohio tomorrow. That is, if they don’t lose the damn thing at O’Hare.
If….
Glad he’s home, bag or no bag.
Are we taking bets here?
Johnny Dangerously popped into my head with this one. “United lost my bag once…ONCE.”
I hadn’t seen Johnson grill Mayorkas before now. Lord, I LoVe that man! I’m at risk of hero worshipping the guy. And the Canadian rocks, too! /don’t get to say that very often ;-)
You might want to phrase this as “engaged three airlines” next time.
Three aircraft carriers would be a heck of commitment to get one guy home…
But at least they (probably) wouldn’t lose his luggage.
The first week he was in the Med he witnessed a ship lose an entire palette of ship’s mail off the deck. So, no, there are no guarantees there.
That’s why I said “probably”…
