Jim Brown R.I.P.
I saw Jim Brown at a Broncos vs. Browns game at the old Mile High Stadium. That was when a fan could walk on the outer perimeter of the field — unheard of today. A friend and I walked up to the visiting team entrance, they pull a temporary fence across the fan track while the team comes out. Jim, in civies, African cap and retired, rolled out. And when I say he rolled, that’s exactly what I mean — the Jim Brown Roll. Let me describe: he kind of tucked his chin down near his shoulder, and heal-to-toe walked, eyes ominously straight ahead.
My friend yelled out “Jim, Jim Brown” multiple times. No effect. Jim rolled on. If a brick wall had jumped in front of him, he would not have blinked, but rolled right through it. The wall may have exploded and killed us all, but Jim would have rolled on.
R.I.P. Jim

Waaaay back when, before the AFL, it was the Cleveland Browns v. NY Giants in my area. AKA, Jim Brown v. Sam Huff. Just an incredible athlete in a time when the training was no where near as sophisticated as now. RIP.
Greatest football player of all time. He’s the only running back to average over 100 yards rushing per game for a career. Led the league in rushing in 8 of his 9 seasons. If they still played two-way ball during his career, he’d have been an awesome linebacker as well.
He’s in the Lacrosse Hall of Fame as well as Canton.
For Syracuse.
I grew up watching Jim Brown and the Browns dominate my dad’s favorite team, the NY Giants.
Jim Brown was the hardest running back to tackle I have ever seen. Almost impossible for one defender to bring him down.
A few years ago I binged on youtube videos of early 1960s football games. Nobody could dominate Jim Brown. One of the most memorable videos I watched was where he swept out to the edge of the field and headed toward the goal. A defender lunged full body at Brown who was tip-toeing down the sideline. He hit Brown with full force on the hip, and just bounced off. Brown didn’t move at all, and just kept running down the sideline.
There has never been a better running back than Jim Brown
I won’t hold that against him.
Here are some highlight films. Count how many times one defender brings down Jim Brown:
Jim Brown highlights.
Helluva running back. RIP Jim . . .
I first noticed Jim Brown watching a movie called Tick Tick Tick on television. I kind of liked it, so I watched it a couple of times when it made it to the small screen. Until I looked him up, I didn’t realize he had played small parts in a variety of famous movies.
It was only later when I found out about his football prowess and his radical activism on race.
I didn’t agree with his politics, but he did grow up in a racial culture where he had valid grievances.

Best running back in NFL – also was part of the “Dirty Dozen”
Force 10 from Navarone, too, but I wouldn’t hold that against him.
