A Manhattan parking garage attendant who was shot twice while confronting an alleged thief — then wrestled the gun away and opened fire on the suspect — has been charged with attempted murder, police and sources said.
The overnight worker, identified by cops as Moussa Diarra, 57, was also hit with assault and criminal possession of a weapon charge in the Saturday incident.
The moment the worker gained control of the gun and was able to ventilate the miscreant, he was in criminal possession of a firearm. Even though it wasn’t his gun. Hey, if Gun Violence is the problem, then it makes sense. The guy did a Violence with a gun, and that is very bad and he must pay.
It’s as if they no longer get the same satisfaction out of indulging criminality, and have decided to seek pleasure in punishing the victims.

If even then…
The story has been updated, from the New York Post:
This is an example of poor police work. The attendant should have been released and then sent home from the hospital pending a further investigation of the incident. The officers at the scene could have confirmed the attendant was an employee and a report should have been sent to detectives before charging the attendant. Detectives can make an arrest later if the attendant’s story does not check-out.
Too bad the jury can’t sanction those responsible for bringing this charge.
Maybe Trump can bring in the parking attendant as a character witness.
Or, Bernard Goetz from real life.
Just like the two previous times they attempted to charge victims, they’re backing down on this one.

And we know for certain that after attempting murder, the thief wasn’t getting a second weapon or reinforcements, right?
I hope kickbacks from the mortuary profession are not a factor.
As a former cop I have a story I can tell about that. When I was in the Academy on the West Coast one of my instructors was a former Chicago PD officer. Chicago cops recover bodies. He was a rookie and after he and his FTO recovered a body they went to coffee. They were discussing a body they had just delivered to a funeral home. A mortician overheard the conversation and offered them some money to retrieve the body and take it to his funeral home.
His FTO said okay, but as a rookie he said he didn’t want the money. They made the trip and he refused his cut. He was told by his FTO that he would be seen as uncooperative. He knew that he was going to have to leave Chicago. He knew he wasn’t going to be trusted by the insiders. He became a cop on the West Coast. Great guy with a good sense of humor. He is one of the guys I think about and miss from my time as a street cop.
But Goetz never used a LAW rocket.
Although Kick-Ass had a better effect:
Given the current state of affairs in the justice system, the public could be forgiven for thinking that maybe the judges thumbs were elsewhere.🤔

<cynicism always on >
One in their mouth, the other up their ass.
And occasionally they switch.
Edit: Deleted!
No he’s not busy at all. He’s napping. Our laws have been turned upside down and they favor the criminal, not the innocent. NY is a mess.
The left hates heroes, unless they are government subsidized and supervised heroes who are hard at work oppressing the people.
Someday we will have movies about a Stakhanovite agent at the FBI who exceeds his quota of arrests of supply-siders and pro-lifers and how that causes the trans organic farmgirl to fall in love with them.
The attendant is guilty of embarrassing the city government. It’s why they come down so hard on self defense cases: they’re embarrassing.
But they’re not embarrassed about people getting attacked? That’s telling.
Eh. There’s always more people who need to park.
It is everywhere.
Too late to panic, we missed that boat in 2008. The question(s) now are: How long will we put up with this? and Who will be left to fight back?
There is also the question of whether there is any alternative that more than 15 people can agree on.
