Reset: Celine Dion

Crimenutely.

I’m not even much of a fan of this woman, if for no other reason than of that bloody Titanic song that (just like the movie), went “on and on,” seemingly without end and forever.

But I cannot have other than heart for her, learning that she’s been diagnosed with the less-than-elegantly named “stiff person syndrome.”

What does that mean?  Well, this:

Progressive encephalomyelitis with rigidity is a rare condition characterised by progressive rigidity of both limb and truncal muscles with brainstem involvement, myoclonus, and spasms. Most patients have died within 2–3 years.

Prayers, brave lady.

We can pray for her.   Not a big Celine fan either,  but I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

Celine was part of a broadcast in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. I was stuck at home for a week.

    I remember this broadcast.

God bless, Celine. I am praying for you.

The condition used to be called “stiff man syndrome.”  I remember reading about it when I was a pharmacy tech.

I have heard of Celine Dion.  I think she was mentioned in the French documentary film, Les glaneurs et la glaneuse, which I watched on Netflix and on YouTube a few times (with the help of subtitles).  And I have heard that there was a movie called Titanic.  It’s possible I’ve even heard Celine Dion sing without knowing whose voice it was.  Not likely, though.

That doesn’t sound good.  I am sorry to hear about it.

Odd isn’t it,  that 23 months into an experimental bio weapon injection program so many many people are experiencing “rare” diseases.

In any event, prayers for this woman singer.

There was an episode of “Supernatural” where a demon caused the Titanic to not sink, because he hated that song.

Season 6, episode 17: “My Heart Will Go On.”

There are some clips on youtube, but I haven’t checked them.

I am utterly insensitive to popular culture, but not to human suffering. Perhaps her celebrity status and her openness will encourage the discovery of treatment or a cure, and I commend her for that as well as praying for her.

My wife and I saw her perform in Las Vegas several years ago.  She has a beautiful voice.  Our prayers are with her, and I hope the 2-3 years thing is wrong.
