How Many Businesses and Jobs Will Leave Seattle When the Minimum Wage Rises to $18.69/hr in January?

That level applies to employers with 500 or more employees. I can see the line of medium-sized businesses preparing to close their doors or move out of the city.

The article also reminds us that on January 1, the state minimum wage rises to $15.74 per hour. No business will be able to afford to hire young people for their first jobs. How many jobs will be automated out of existence?

The Leftists who run the state and the city pride themselves on forcing employers to pay their employees a “living wage,” even for jobs that are simply not designed for people to make a living on. Especially in one of the most expensive cities in the country for housing costs.  They have no clue that employers must pass the higher costs on to their customers, who can always go elsewhere to eat or shop.

I meant that they’re looking at leaving already, as in NOW. Not in January, or February…

That they are. It’s clear they know what’s gonna happen, and aren’t sticking around to even try to make it work . . .

How long do you think they should be expected/required to try?

How much did they contribute to the Communist Democrats in the last seven years?

Well that might be a separate issue, although specifically businesses don’t vote.  But I would be in favor of nobody who votes Democrat gets to leave wherever they are, until at least one election cycle after they stop, or something.

Please, I didn’t say that nor do I think it.

No doubt there are people who want to make a go of it in their city, and will give it the old college try.  Likewise, there are people who see the writing on the wall and are moving their businesses elsewhere.  It’s simple . . .

I remember some years back when San Francisco really jacked up their minimum wage.  A guy who co-owned a bookstore wrote about having to close it because there was no way he could pay everyone that much and he and the other owner couldn’t do all the work themselves.  Nevertheless, he supported the new law even though it forced him out of business.  Pretty strange.

Your link was corrupted, Charlotte. I think I fixed it though. Here.

And my statement applies, always and everywhere.  Leftists are Leftist first, and everything else later, including business owners.  They willingly destroy jobs and value to the economy to maintain their Leftist viewpoint.

What was it about the Left destroys everything it touches?

It could be.  It may be that store, but a different, longer article that I read.

Thank you for rescuing my link (and by extension, me!) from corruption! You really are a knight in shining armor.
