Hike with Me

Today I hiked on the east side of Mt Hood from Sahale Falls up the Umbrella Falls trail, then south on the Timberline trail to the White River Canyon. I went 10½ miles in 5½ hours. It was a beautiful sunny day with temperatures in the low 60s, perfect for hiking. The fall colors have arrived, particularly the huckleberries. Flowers have almost disappeared. Lots of gorgeous views of the mountain.

Hoping this gets to the Main Feed so I can send a link to my brother who lives in that area.

My wife and I got a really awesome opportunity to take our oldest to meet some of my wife’s family in Spain to walk the Camino de Santiago last month. I’ve done some backpacking in the Smokies and my wife loves that kind of thing but this was something way outside our experience. We started just across the border in Portugal and walked 77 miles in 4.5 days to Santiago. While my wife and I aren’t Catholic, we are Christians and the pilgrimage was pretty special. We hope to do the northern route sometime at a bit slower pace :).

We really got to see a part of the country that I don’t think we would have otherwise, even still I’m glad all the blisters on my feet are gone.

Nice photos, Dave.  By default, the Ricochet software chooses Medium for the photo size when you create a comment.  You could select Large and we would get to see these larger.

I gotta say we got played though, not a single waterfall in that whole trek. Those are beautiful!

The Camino is an amazing experience. We didn’t get to walk as far as you did, so I’m a bit jealous!

I usually hike with my brother, but he is now in Spain hiking the camino. He started in Somport on the French border. This is his fifth. He did the Portuguese one in 2019.

The French one is LONG! I’ll put him on my prayer list. There were some days I just listened to books or music to keep my mind off my feet but I haven’t had that much time to talk to God without distraction in a long time. Next chance you get to text him, tell him “Buen Camino” for me.

Sorry about that, when I uploaded several at once it kinda freaked on me. I’ll edit that.
