Elon Musk: 21st Century Kosciuszko/Lafayette?

Elon Musk has made several moves that has put him at odds with Progressives that previously praised him for his leadership in “green” industries: solar power and electric vehicles. He made a tender offer for Twitter with the express intent of ending viewpoint censorship that was crippling conservative voices; he has been critical of Biden; he has defended capitalism, etc. And now he is assembling a legal team to prepare for the coming conflict with Progressives.

This announcement is bookended by Elon Musk’s deal to purchase the Twitter social media platform, a resistant internal company ideological adversary, and a warning from the political left with Business Insider publishing an alleged sexual misconduct story.  Indeed, it does appear that Elon Musk is preparing for a war that will likely include the Fourth Branch of Government as an adversary.

Additionally, Elon Musk is drawing attention to the corruption in the 2016 election by spotlighting the trial of Hillary Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmann.  Mr. Musk notes in his remarks that discovering the Trump-Russia collusion story was a hoax put together by the Clinton campaign, media and allies in government, “makes you wonder what else is fake.”

Progressives are taking comfort in the fact that Musk, born in South Africa, can never run for President of the United States. Despite a humorous meme that Musk has found a Hawaiian birth certificate, there is no chance that Musk will be president. But Progressives should take no comfort from this. Although history does not repeat itself, it rhymes. And more and more we are seeing parallels to 1776: tyrannical rule; the “real” rules being set by persons not elected by voters in this country; the threat of foreign operators exercising control over our population.

Whether it is the “equity” agenda, climate change-justified economic damage, pandemic-justified  censorship and deprivations of liberty, more and more the powers that be are denying self-government set forth in the US Constitution.  Progressives seek to enmesh and subordinate American domestic policy to trans-national control under the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, the World Health Organization, etc. So the issues that faced Americans in 1776 are in the forefront again. Are we entitled to sovereignty? Do we have individual natural rights given by the Creator?

And just as in 1776 there are persons of talent and means who are not natural born citizens but who are willing to take the traditional American position in this conflict. Although post-modern history likely ignores them, at least two figures — Tadeusz Kościuszko and the Marquis de La Fayette (known in America simply as “Lafayette”) — played prominent roles in securing our national independence. And just as foreign actors are being brought to oppress us today, the British employed auxiliary soldiers from various German states to aid them in putting down rebellion. They did not succeed, but they tried then just as they are trying now.

Again, from CTH:

Do not dismiss the importance of what Elon Musk is doing.  In addition to introducing millions of Americans to something they are newly experiencing, this shift in cultural opinion is akin to Musk playing the role of John Galt and swinging the social control pendulum away from the government.

As we keep watching, do not forget to pause and notice there are many new social, cultural and political battles we are winning.

Be of good cheer, our assembly is growing, and we are gathering significant resources.

Yes, John Galt, but also Kosciuszko and Lafayette.

Elon is an interesting cat.  I have mostly just ignored him but he seems to be making some interesting moves.  Still I am far from a fan.  Chance are we would not even know of him if it was not for the Left losing its ever loving mind for even the slightest deviation from its cause.  Sooner or later the Left will get leverage on him and then maybe he will go back in his box.

I am not so sure of that. If you watch the interview with the Babylon Bee I think you see a man who enjoys riches and things but seems not to be owned by them. He uses money (including the leverage open to him as a shareholder of valuable stock) to pursue his interests (which are not simply the acquisition of money). And he seems unconcerned about losing it, otherwise he would not take the risks he has already taken. So I am hopeful.

He is interesting… especially in his contempt for the “popular” narrative of the elite. He speaks his mind, and let others think whatever they wish.

I’m not a fan of Musk, either, but I am a fan of a lot of what he has been doing lately.

I am pretty much a fan, myself.

I mean, anyone who knows about his history his projects, his drive, his vision and genius should have just a little respect! My god. He is probably the most significant person in the last 25 years.
But like most people we only have thumbnail sketches and then use stereotypes. My right-wing friends are mostly hung-up on his environmentalism. Ok. He believes in climate change. But unlike millions and millions of others who believe the same, he actually went and did something. Against all odds. But that wasn’t enough. Spacex… are. you. kidding me???

He gets no credit strangely for activating his satellite communication system – yeah there’s that too (!) – for the Ukrainians to use coordinating against the Russian invasion.
Do I agree with him on everything politically? No. Is AI scary? Yes.
Was he wrong to have a threesome with Amber Heard and some French model? …Maybe.

You need to get out more if you only know him from this.

I do agree that he’s stepping into unknown territory getting political. Like Trump, he doesn’t understand what they will do, or try to do to him.

I was around Democrat local politics.  They are a petty lot.  But they are vicious.  Everybody has things, people, beliefs valuable to them.  They understand this and use it.  If they want something they will take your house, your livelihood or destroy your granddaughter to achieve their wants.  The only way to fight them is to have nothing but hate for them.  If you have anything else, any love, desire, joy, then they have you.  When enough people have nothing but hate for them then we will have a chance.  Until then we are lost.  So what do you think?  Does Musk only have hate?  Or does he love something or someone and can be leveraged?

Lafayette? Did he ever think of humans on Mars? This guy is one in a million. Or a trillion.  And he is on our side. At least for now in the struggle for control. God bless him.  Will never buy a Tesla.  Too expensive. But hope this guy can help turn around the woke B.S. If he gets Twitter it might happen.

Probably because it, more than love, will rouse a response string enough to push back. Why does the left keep winning? It hates us.

They will not only seek to destroy him, but will continue their destruction until he is totally humiliated. He is the anti – Soros, the anti-one world governance of the leftie elites. They do not care if they destroy his scientific advancements along the way. Environmentalism was never the goal but the tool. They have their own tools.

He’s thrilled because at last there’s a scandal about him that he can call “Elongate.”  He’s been waiting a long time for this day.

And what if he made that very public offer to buy Twitter for the sole purpose of outing them for all the fake bot accounts. It worked, and now he can back out by saying it isn’t what they portrayed it to be. Brilliant.

Rodin: Elon Musk has made several moves that has put him at odds with Progressives that previously praised him for his leadership in “green” industries: solar power and electric vehicles.

My sense is they never really liked him much. Too much of a do-er. Too solution-oriented.

Like w hen your girlfriend (back when you were 17) came to you crying about something that happened to her, and you, Elon-like, propose a solution…. you just missed the mark. Bad boyfriend.

You have to cry alongside her, sympathize, get angry at whatever or whomever, and bond. Solutions are not what environmentalists (not all) are looking for.

Tesla made me a believer. I heard all the naysaying short-sellers, and armed with a bias against enviros (quite justified) I initially thought it another government subsidized scam.

But it turns out that EV’s are superior technology. Yes, electricity comes mostly from burning coal, so it’s not as environmentally significant as some believe, but that aside, it’s still cheaper, faster, quieter and better.

Back when the stock was somewhere around 140 a share, I encouraged my richer friends  to buy. I knew the stock was very undervalued because I did a little research. But no, they didn’t. Many seasoned pros believe TSLA will far surpass the current price for several reasons.

Musk was able to start an entirely new automobile company from scratch. How many visionaries would love to start something from scratch. How much better would it be? Imagine designing a city from zero. What would be different? Lots.

For these people, space is an indulgence. We should spend money here on Earth, blah blah. They have no sense of going forward or outside the ‘plan’. They are very limited to their grievances to the point they can’t see beyond them. So they really don’t like SpaceX much either. Besides they hate and envy rich people.

The thing that made me a ‘fan’ of Elon is the same thing Rodin expressed in comment #2.

It’s clear he doesn’t really care about money. To the left’s astonishment, there are people who are in business who don’t really care about money in the same sense they do. Having wealth solves the problems you thought were the biggest. Monumental even. But it turns out not to be the case.

Yes. And now he needs to set up an assembly and launch facility outside of the USA to provide similar service to US citizens in all eventualities.

Because only hatred gives you the sheer will to fight to win no matter the cost in this situation.  Love makes one weak, gives one vulnerabilities that can be leveraged.  Love does not win wars, only hate.
