In Anticipation

In my morning crossword puzzle, one clue was “times of anticipation,” and the answer was “eves.” And because we will be spending New Year’s Eve Day with my brother-in-law and his wife, I wanted to talk with you all about “anticipation” before we leave.

It seems like anticipation springboards off of the past year, which I won’t dwell on. The past year has been a challenge in many ways–personally, culturally, and politically. But through it all, I knew that I had a place of respite where I could rest and be truly myself.

Ricochet.

You might wonder how it is possible to read all the dreadful news stories on Ricochet, and come away refreshed. For me, it’s all about being with friends. Knowing we can share our thoughts and still be respected, even cared for, if we’ve earned it. Knowing that you are always there. Knowing that we can disagree and do it amiably and thoughtfully. Knowing that some of you genuinely care about my wellbeing, and your knowing that I care about yours. I have no other place to go where I can anticipate that kind of kinship and sharing.

So, in anticipation of 2022, I look forward to continuing to seek your counsel, sharing my stories, reading about yours, laughing and crying together, lamenting and celebrating together.

Blessings to all my Ricochet friends, and may your 2022 be rewarding, peaceful, and hopeful.

Thank you for being there.

God bless you Susan.  When they were looking for the best post this last year in Ricochet, I suggested that they start by looking at your posts.  You are a critical part of the foundation of this place.

This New Year’s celebration will be different.  We’ll tie 2021 up with a black ribbon, kick it and then rejoice in its passing.  It was a year of shadow.   2022!  Light!  Gimme the champagne! Ahhh!  (That hit the spot.)

You should be considered for posts you wrote in the Member Feed and were elevated.  Taking out your contributions and the contributions of other contributors like Henry Racette doesn’t seem right to me.
