10 Facts That the Left Cannot Comprehend

The problem with the Left in this country is that their worldview prevents them from coming to grips with facts about human nature, economics, and nature. These facts include:

  1. Any governing body founded on a religious ideology does not change the precepts it holds dear.
  2. In America, there is systemic racism starting with the fact that children of color are locked into poor-performing urban public schools.
  3. When government replaces personal agency with entitlements, people lose a sense of self-worth and become dependent.
  4. Equity causes a nation to be poorer, equality enhances opportunity creating incentives to create wealth.
  5. Except by the power of the state, people will make decisions based on their self-interest.
  6. When the assets of production are held by the state, ability to satisfy demand will be weakened or become very expensive.
  7. Gender is decided at the cellular level by chromosome composition. No amount of personal feeling can change that.
  8. With respect to Covid-19, there is no technology available today that will stop virus transmission. We will defeat Covid-19 when we learn to live with it.
  9. Leaders in government who only think to enrich and empower themselves and their factions are not legitimate and cannot stand. In a civilized republic, the change can be peaceful.
  10. There are evil people. They are not inherently good and made to engage in despicable acts due to systemic racism, climate change or a bad point spread.

America is split and highly factionalized. Trump became president because enough voters saw the leadership as illegitimate. Joe Biden became president not because the Trump policies were reviled, but his personal behavior was outside the norms. The Biden Administration is failing since it does not understand basic facts of the world. These are not serious people.

Sex is decided at the cellular level by chromosome composition. No amount of personal feeling can change that.

Gender is decided at the grammatical level by the rules of the language. No amount of personal feeling can change that.

    Joe Biden became President?

The Left has trained whole generations to be Leftist and to be Activists.  The Right has trained nobody to do anything and just wants to be left alone.  The Right is going to lose as the young Leftist Activists replace them.

With respect to Covid-19, there is no technology available today that will stop virus transmission. We will defeat Covid-19 when we learn to live with it.

Incorrect.  There are people working right now with pure cultures of Wuhan Coronavirus, and they are safe from transmission barring a freak accident.  We can have doctors and nurses work with symptomatic patients without getting the disease.  And that is for an exceptionally easy to transmit disease.

I will offer you a different line:

COVID Zero is impossible to achieve.  We will defeat COVID-19 when it becomes endemic like seasonal influenza and we have enough immunity via recovery or vaccination.  Masks are a distraction at best, but mostly virtue signalling.

Yes, transmission can be fully prevented.

I don’t think Trump’s personal behavior was outside the norms.  Was he bombastic, obnoxious, and a boorish?  Yes, and those are normal behaviors for many adult males.  Biden’s win is still suspect given the numerous voting irregularies in key districts.

    OTOH, I put Trump’s demeanor several orders of magnitude over Biden’s . . .

Joe Biden became president because the pandemic was used to put in place “temporary” measures that enabled massive fraud. Measures that the Democrat party immediately tried to write into law.

And people have remarkably varied interpretations of what is their “self-interest.” It is not always maximizing their own money or power.

I’m a pretty right-wing guy, but I only agree with 5 of the “facts” asserted in the OP.  This count is from a simple agree-disagree dichotomy, without consideration of nuance or partial agreement.

    Good post.

But in regard to your first point, I think it would be helpful if you defined what you mean by a “religious ideology.” Every ideology is based on axiomatic precepts that, by definition, are unchanging.

I really like your sixth point. I would add that there are only two “assets of production”: raw materials and people. State ownership of the means of production therefore means ownership of people (aka slavery) or ownership of the raw materials that people need (aka slavery).

The push for “green”, expensive and  unreliable energy (and not very green) forms of energy baffles me. If they are worried about climate change as they say, they should be pushing for nuclear energy

I have to disagree with the final points. The Biden people are serious. However, they are also stupid, and no amount of seriousness can undo stupidity.

I disagree. Trump’s behavior was perfectly normal – for a democrat. Democrats for decades have been calling republicans Nazis, racists and so on. Trump was really the first republican candidate to engage in the mud slinging that democrats have been wallowing in for decades. Its not that he violated standards, he violated the double standard.

It is rational. It just has nothing to do with environmental threats. They want to drive the middle class into a pre industrial standard of living. A modern day peasant class.
