Never Forget
For those of us who despair that our young people have been indoctrinated to hate America, there is hope.
In this article in The Federalist, we learn that students all over the country on college campuses are planting our flag to commemorate the tragedy of 9/11. In spite of efforts by the Left to downplay this holiday, and blaming America for its occurrence, students at more than 200 schools are letting the world know the importance of this calamity, and that it is worth commemorating. Those students know that Islamic terrorism is still a threat, and that we need to remember those who lost their lives to its horrors on 9/11.
I’m grateful that these students have chosen to never forget.

I am glad for every remembrance: Nevertheless, I very quickly counted up seventy 4-year colleges and universities in Tennessee alone, and I’m pretty sure there are more. So I suspect 200 is but a drop in the bucket. Of course, lots of those are small, or specialty.
But nationwide, I would be willing to bet 200 is but a tithe.
That’s great news, Chuck! Are you saying those colleges are all having commemorations for 9/11?
No, more’s the pity! Just that 200 is 4 YAF memorials per state and in Tennessee that would be 4 out of something over 70. So it’s not really great news.
Don’t forget to put your flags out too – on mailboxes – in planter pots – anywhere you can find room and the more, the better. Thanks for this story – I didn’t know about the college campuses – that is some good news for a change!
When I first read the word “holiday” in conjunction with 9/11 it gave me jolt. But on reconsideration it is a “holy day“ — a day of sober reflection on the sacrifices made and the circumstances that led to that day. “Holiday” has lost its connection in common parlance to those community observances that had religious significance or even when secularized to an extant still had vestiges of public ritual.
Never forget, but it’s going to be a very bitter anniversary this year. It’s always a bitter day, but now we add gross failure on top of the the sucker punch we took. Everything we worked for in these twenty years has been flushed down the toilet.
I don’t know that I would fully agree, @manny. We have taken a nasty turn on the journey, and we will probably suffer for it. And at least we have kids who have learned that in spite of the stupidity of our government, Islamist terrorism still exists and we must be ever vigilant. That, at least, gives me comfort.
Well, we always had a segment of kids/population that had some sense of loyalty to the country. But I would put to you that segment appears to be shrinking. That aside, the events of the last couple of weeks have been so disheartening. Perhaps in time I will get some distance from this and see some good that came out of it, but from today’s vantage point with the 9/11 anniversary days away, it is about as bitter a pill to swallow as an American as I have ever faced in my adult life.
It is terrible that all of these events are converging; I agree. But I guess the cock-eyed optimist in me wants to hope for the future, even if our future seems dim.
I don’t think our future is necessarily bleak, but it’s sort of like working on and fixing one’s house for twenty years and then it gets burned to the ground. Insurance is going to cover it, but what a waste of twenty years of work.
Edit: It’s more than that actually. It’s a stain on our national honor.
