Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
This week, Ricochet member Fredösphere provides the intro (coffee mug incoming, Fred, and more of the entries at the end of the show) as Troy Senik sits in for Lileks. We’ve got a terrific line up of guests this week as Mark Levin and Larry Kudlow both enlighten us on immigration, Mississippi, the economy and a preview of the mid-terms, and why we might not be behind the 8-ball just yet.
Music from this week’s’ episode:
Los Mandados by Vicente Fernández
The opening sequence for the Ricochet Podcast was composed and produced by James Lileks.
¿Dondé está el baño, EJHill?

Matede:
I think I got it. Rob Long and Ann Coulter are an item. am I right?
That’s what I was thinking.
I try to stay out of their private lives. Unless it’s Troy.
Mark Levin is absolutely right about the problem with the GOP.
I have no idea what they believe. “Lower Taxes” and “Free Markets” mean nothing to the blue-collar worker.
Also Mark Levin is right about another thing.
What proof do we have from the Mike Murphy and Stuart Stevens’ of the world that a GOP-held Senate will do anything other than “blame Obama” and give us more of the same of the big-government/crony capitalism/pork-barrel spending to the States from the GWB years when the GOP controlled both houses of Congress?
Perfect intro! Fredo, you should be doing the voiceovers for movie trailers….
Katievs and Benjamin Glaser sort of touch on kind of the same subject. If the Republicans win it all, will they deliver?
The analogy I use, is the odds the Republicans will deliver if by 2017 they have the House, Senate, and White House is about the same as the odds of drawing the inside cards of a Royal Flush. Pretty low, but compared with no chance at all of getting the country turned around if they don’t win.
If the GOP screws it up, or fails to deliver if they do win it all in 2016, they’re done. There will be a mutiny of the base.

Ricochet.com – (Breaking News): Despite intense speculation from the member base, Rob Long this morning refused to address rumors about his relationship with Ann Coulter. Several members had leaped to the conclusion that he could have no other reason for announcing his sudden cross-country move from sunny Venice Beach, CA, to New York City, where Coulter lives, other than for love.
“Think about it,” said one New York City-based Ricochet member who requested anonymity in order to speak candidly. “Why else would he want to move to New York City. I mean, just to be perfectly candid here, New York City is horrible. First off, it’s obviously the most liberal city in the known universe. The crime rate under Mayor Blasio is sky-rocketing. No. It has to be for a woman.”
Developing…
I want to like this about 10 more times! Loved it!
And here I thought Rob was moving across the country to be close to YOU, Albert. What could be better than two friends drinking aged bourbon, smoking good cigars, and discussing the finer points of nested comments? :)
What about Levin’s idea of a convention of the state legislatures? I can’t understand why so few conservatives are taking it up. The heart of the problem we’re facing isn’t just that Democrats have too much power in Washington, it’s that Washington has too much power.
The way to address that, it seems to me, is for the states to stand up and use the power granted them in the Constitution to amend that document.
So they’re a threesome? Does Delingpole know?
We’ve thought the same thing for a long time! Here’s hoping it’s true and that Rob’s squishiness can be rightened up a bit by Ms. Coulter.
Their wedding would no doubt be the best Ricochet meetup ever.
If it hasn’t been mentioned in a prior comment. You can enjoy Fredösphere also at the District of Wonders’ Protecting Project Pulp where he’s an editor (right?) and sometime narrator for some absolutely great, great pulp stories from that bygone era.
I listen pretty much every Tuesday when posted.
OMG, big props to the Blue Yeti regarding the ending song. Blue Yeti are you a closet Vicente Fernández fan? You can imagine my surprise when I heard it. If you need any translation let me know :)
Right! Thanks for the plug.
I agree completely. It also really rankles me how tea partiers like him endlessly demonize John Boehner. What on earth do they expect him to do? The GOP only controls the House, and the president is a hyper liberal and the senate majority leader is committed to enabling the president’s lawlessness. There is little Boehner CAN do.
It’s worth saluting the efforts on the outro from Andrew Miller and Eyeore. And one other gent who was unannounced, bravo gentlemen!
I wholeheartedly second this comment! Thanks to all who entered.
Having Mark Levin on was like adding some scotch to the Ricochet coffee. More, please.
Mark’s main point is, have Bush x2 (or would a McCain or Romney), really give us smaller government or more freedom? If you answer “yes” … well, I don’t think you’re being realistic.
And yes, there is a bit of Joe Pyne and (a man I worked for) Bob Grant in Mark, but he has taken it to a higher level. Again, more please!
