The men of GLoP (that’s Jonah Goldberg, Rob Long, and John Podhoretz) return with another romp through pop culture and politics. This week, some thoughts upon the sunset of the primary season, the folks at Facebook are not our friends, of course some “Game of Thrones” commentary, a fond look back at the Steven Baldwin-Tom Berenger classic Cutaway, and should you write or watch something for free? A GLoP investigation. Finally, a farewell to a beloved friend.

Jonah, I love your writing and the fact that you are steadfast #NeverTrump makes me admire you even more. We need more people who don’t give in to the Trump/Hillary/Sanders race to the bottom of culture and civility.
Oh, I’m with you actually — I skipped those episodes of Delingpole.
I thought it was a good movie, just Aaron Sorkin-y. I can respect being completely turned off by the style, though.
My wife was diagnosed with thyroid cancer over a year ago. Much to the consternation of most of the thyca community, a lot of people refer to it as the “good cancer”, with a few other cancers, because most variants aren’t fast growing and most patients don’t have to go through chemo. Maybe that’s how Rick Perry can backtrack from calling Trump a cancer on the Republican Party. ‘Sure I said he was a cancer, but he’s a good cancer, like prostate or thyroid, and that’s why I’m able to support him now.’
I liked Jonah’s line: you’re doing me a favor by asking me to do something for you for free? Thank you, no.
I’m a musician; I’m going to remember that one.
I would watch more than ten minutes of Cutaway if it was RiffTrax-ed by Bridget and Mary Jo.
Deep. Verrrrrry deep. ;) I hope your wife is doing much better.
Oh for the love of god Jonah! The writers didn’t set things up three years ago. George R. R. Martin did 18 years ago. Almost everything on the show is from those books that I started to read when I was 20.
The fact that the series hasn’t been finished after 18 years is pretty dumb.
Thanks. She and her doctor decided to not remove the thyroid and to watch it. We go back in July for her six month checkup.
I’m fascinated by the fact that I so thoroughly enjoy listening to you three for an hour even though I have absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about.
