Donald Trump’s Friday night commutation of his associate, Roger Stone, further reinforces the public’s apprehension about his presidency. Parsing the statistics that contribute to the impression that the country is in the grip of a new surge of COVID-19 cases. And Peter Beinart’s attack on Israel even as the Jewish State is again saving the world from the prospect of a rogue nuclear power in the Middle East.

The July 10 Ricochet podcast had Heather MacDonald as a guest. She does talk about black encounters with police that do not involved shooting. She reports that the encounters are proportionate to the crime rate in various ethnic groups.
Regarding Stone’s clemency, I agree with Andrew McCarthy:
I can’t get too whipped up over President Trump’s commutation of Roger Stone’s 40-month sentence for non-violent criminal obstruction of a bogusly based and ridiculously over-prosecuted investigation.
Not under circumstances in which jail-house doors have been swung open all over the country by federal, state, and local governments, which are using the coronavirus pandemic as a rationale to release both hardened criminals and elderly convicts (i.e., those around Stone’s age).
McCarthy didn’t mention that Stone didn’t get a fair trial. The jury foreman didn’t disclose her blatant bias against Stone and Trump. Plus the judge was an Obama hack.
I can’t understand the Commentary “conservatives” desire to see Stone go to prison. Their dislike of Stone and Trump has warped their sense of justice.
