President Donald Trump returned to Washington, D.C., today to meet with his economic advisers and also made a statement on the violence over the weekend in Charlottesville, VA. “Racism is evil, and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.”
Declaring that “justice will be delivered,” Trump also said that the Department of Justice has opened a civil right investigation into the deadly car attack over the weekend in Charlottesville, VA. “To anyone who acted criminally in this weekend’s racist violence, you will be held fully accountable.”

Now that Trump has made the statement that his critics have been demanding for two days those same critics will move on to some other criticism. For them, I think it’s not actually about what Trump says. They are shoe-horning a woman’s death into their own political obsessions. If Trump had said something else on Saturday then his detractors would have jumped on him for something else.
Well said, Mr. President.
It really undercuts your whole “Presenting unaltered news” podcast when the first thing you do is speculative editorializing.
Abiolutely. The Dems looooved what Trump said after James Hodgkinson’s coup attempt
exactly two months ago today–REMEMBER?!
because he didn’t blame them. Their relief was palpable. ( in my opinion, the fury murderously expressed by Hodgkinson stemmed directly from the DNC’s unfair treatment of his idol Sanders, as well as from the fact that Hodgkinson was a Dem.)
Now, he speaks, after seeing the pictures we all saw, of what was obviously a mélée (not a one sided attack)
calls for an end to all violence, bigotry and hatred–
calls on us to remember that we are all Americans–
and sufdenly he’s Richard Spencer.
Will today’s excellent speech fix it?
Nah.
They made up their minds before he spoke that nothing, ever, could remedy the insensitivity of his first call for national unity against violence.
Not really. The podcast is the straight up audio. The description of the podcast episode a direct quote from Trump’s statement, without any editorializing. I am allowed to add a comment under my own name, not as either the POTUS POD or Ricochet Audio Network, to express my personal opinion.
Yes, you are.

Looks like an intelligent take.
I really wish the criticism would be more of a, why this form of extremism is not even vaguely related to what Conservatives or what the Republican party expresses to be for – liberty and freedom expressed primarily but not only as lower taxes, fewer regulations, and the right to life itself.
The sky is blue.
Hey now! Quit that speculative editorializing!
