Biden set to snub a key ally by an authoritarian act:
U.S. president-elect Joe Biden has indicated plans to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline permit via executive action on his first day in office, sources confirmed to CBC News on Sunday.
A purported briefing note from the Biden transition team mentioning the plan was widely circulated over the weekend after being shared by the incoming president’s team with U.S. stakeholders.
The transition document suggests that Canada has not been able to persuade the incoming Biden administration of the benefits of the pipeline expansion project.
The move stoked concerns that Biden was capitulating to radical members of his party who traffic in apocalyptic scenarios:
Sources have expressed alarm about Biden’s proposal, calling it anti-union and anti-science, and point out how the Executive Action continues the systemic racism that has characterized the government’s treatment of Indigenous people:
TC Energy said in a release late Sunday that the company plans to spend $1.7 billion US on a solar, wind and battery-powered operating system for the pipeline, hire a union-only workforce, sign Indigenous equity partners and establish zero-emissions operations by 2030, all with an eye toward securing Biden’s approval.
Canadian leaders have warned that the move may embolden not only Putin, but Saudi Arabia, whose repressive policies towards women and LBGTQ+ persons remain problematic:
“Doing so would kill jobs on both sides of the border, weaken the critically important Canada-U.S. relationship and undermine U.S. national security by making the United States more dependent on OPEC oil imports in the future,” Kenney said.
A former official in the State Department expressed concern, noting that Biden’s first act would not only make America less safe and dependent on foreign governments, but alienate a key ally at a time when combatting rising white supremacism was a mutual concern. The move comes as Congressional committees expressed interest in investigating two groups, Climate Leaders for Biden and Clean Energy for Biden, which raised millions for Biden in 2020.

Like abortion funding controlled by executive orders, this is a political football that Democrats were sure to possess again. No surprise.
Democrats have already banned combustion engines in three states, though the bans are delayed. Will Democrats now pursue a similar ban at the national level? After the automobile industry bailout and ever-ratcheting emissions regulations, it’s not unimaginable that Democrats will force auto makers to offer only electric vehicles by year X.

The Biden administration will be a fount of bad policy decisions. If only Trump hadn’t dynamited the GOP in Georgia. Sigh.
It is more than a little depressing to
thinkknow we’d have to go to an alternate universe for the left and right to be treated equally in the media.(Actually, left/right is not the right dichotomy. It’s “party in favor vs. party out of favor,” or something like that. Trump is not on the right, but is treated as if he was.)
But. if he creates American jobs, there will be more people paying more taxes, and the chief wealth metric, food stamps, goes down. And wasn’t the alternative sending the oil to the CCP to help them out with their bioweapons program? I might be a little fuzzy on the details.
Canada cancelled its projects to build pipelines west to the Pacific Ocean or east to refineries in Ontario and New Brunswick, so the real alternative is shipping the oil to American ports and/or refineries via railroads that just happen to be owned by Warren Buffet.
Shutting down the Keystone pipeline does not seem like a good idea to me.
On the bright side, if it alienates a “key ally at a time when combatting rising white supremacism was a mutual concern,” maybe it will turn out to be a good thing. I do not think that alleged “white supremacism” should be a concern to anyone, at present. The problem is the strange rise of black supremacism, which seems to be principally promoted by white Wokeists.
Gasoline at $5/gallon by the end of the first year?
We’re going to need a bigger electrical grid for that. Much bigger.

The Department of Energy’s new mission under President Biden’s direction will be to ensure that there is no energy. Rising fuel prices will affect the prices of goods and services. From farming, to the generation of electricity from natural gas power plants, American wallets are going to empty.
And exponentially more rare elements. News flash: Petroleum isn’t the only limited natural resource. Batteries aren’t made of dirt and dreams.

All of them. Wages will plummet, when half of fracking is canceled by Biden blocking interstate pipelines. Joe says “dark winter” often, because without cheap energy, working folks will be in the cold and dark. Czar Biden is taking steps to turn this into a nation of “haves” and “have nots”.
81 million voters want us to be dependent on Iran and strong breezes for energy. Elections matter.

As to the story itself, I find it confusing, not even sure if it’s real, suspect some kind of satire, and find I don’t really care either way.
Nah, we’ll be confined to public transportation, and the ability to travel will become ever more restrictive. Which is how those who wish to control us want it to be.
Oh yes. The Biden Administration will dismantle America as we know it, and some will insist it’s all Trump’s fault. I can’t really say the words I want to use on a family website.

Biden/Harris will overreach. They will try to ban the Keystone Pipeline, all plausible energy projects.
There is talk of annual $200 fines per firearm, turning half of America into criminals overnight. If bullets get $1/round tax, then smuggling will come back into vogue.
The cultural attacks will continue, and ramp up. The Left cannot resist.
The next step will be states like Texas declaring themselves “Sanctuary States” for people who refuse to follow tyrannical federal laws. Enforcement of these federal laws will become limited to zones that are safe for enforcement – just as happens in California, where outside of the cities and enclaves and places where inspectors are not afraid for their personal safety, regulations are ignored by everyone.
Other states will join them. A soft de facto independence from Washington D.C. will take hold, firm up, and spread, reaching even the rock-ribbed conservative areas of liberal states (like 90% of Oregon and 50% of Maryland).
And if we get that far, full secession may also occur. After all, if Middle America does not believe that elections are not rigged (because of blue enclaves), then if they want true elections, those fraud centers must be bypassed.
I don’t see it any other way. I don’t see Americans giving up guns, God, and religion; not without one hell of a fight.
Yeah Buffet has financed an awful lot of the opposition to the Keystone Pipeline. There are Allies and then there are Allies. Canada isn’t going anywhere, and really what have they done for us lately?
On the other hand if Buffet stops funding Democratic policies and candidates, now that it a true disaster.

Back to the “blame Donald Trump for everything narrative” even though he was the one who opened up the pipeline to … the pipeline. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler share no responsibility for their failures? More talented Southern Republicans like Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul, Lindsey Graham, Tom Cotton, and Tim Scott should have been able to win those elections unless Georgia really is experiencing the worst demographic or corruption trend ever.
It took decades to open up ANWR. I guess that will be closed again too.

We always wonder if the last Republican president really will be the last Republican or moderate conservative-type president. I guess the world will be changed in a lot of ways if that really does happen.
This take ignores many obvious factors that contributed to the loss in Georgia that cannot be blamed on Trump.
I live in a town in the northeast where the residents are involved in a campaign to prevent the upgrade-to a newer and safer material-of the Algonquin gas pipeline. At the same time, we have a rail line that passes through the town (right by my property)-see photo-which is used to carry “gas liquids” and unscented natural gas in rail cars. The pipeline-even in its current state-is >1000 times safer than rail lines. Newer material would further improve things in addition to providing additional capacity. The gas folks in NH are having trouble supplying new customers. Should one of the rail cars have a “problem” I would be fried in an instant. Someone once said that the first thing a man will do for his “ideals” is to lie.
