Young, Blonde, Scandinavian Women Camp in Morocco, With Predictable Results
Fox News has a story about two Scandinavian women in their mid 20s who went hiking in Morocco and were killed at their campsite. One was decapitated, one was nearly decapitated. I don’t understand stories like this. Have these young women never heard of Islam? Modern western societies are fanatics about safety, even putting bicycle helmets on their kids to ride around their own yard. But then they take insane risks because of … well, I’m not sure what.
I’m a fairly experienced traveler in somewhat risky places, but I would never consider taking risks like this. They go to a Muslim country, take pictures like the one above, and presume they will be safe. I just don’t understand why these women thought they could do this.
This was not a tragedy. This was murder. The real tragedy was that it is so predictable, so routine, that it wouldn’t even be a news story if they weren’t young and beautiful. I’m not being unsympathetic. Quite the opposite. But this rosy view of reality, despite all evidence to the contrary, is remarkable. And remarkably common. And remarkably dangerous.

Mr. Mongo’s picture was taken at a baby shower by a co-worker- a fellow dental hygienist who shares his love of puppies and cinnamon -lavender Yankee candles. Don’t get carried away – he’s not always so suave and GQ as he’s portrayed in baby shower portraits such as that.
Incidentally, my spell check tried to change “Mr. Mongo” to “Mr. Mongrel.” I’m not sure what to make of that…
For those who may have wondered what these young women were doing camping out in a Muslim country, news outlets have now revealed that they “were studying outdoor life, culture, and eco-philosophy at the University of South-Eastern Norway, were on a month-long trip through North Africa.”
So there you go.

I have not read this entire thread but it merits mentioning that had these poor girls been properly educated about the abuse suffered by Western women at the hands of Muslim men, they may never have taken on the risk of camping out in a Muslim country. Ironically, they came from Scandinavia, which has seen rape skyrocket in recent years. But those incidents (and who knows how many of them make the news) are no doubt couched in multi-cultural rhetoric which may not include the Muslim background of the assailants.
From the Powerline blog, these are the implements of mayhem and murder taken from the Islamists that killed the young ladies. Yeah, pretty sure that on the right that’s a slingshot, some rocks and a sling. Make of that what you will.
Well… one thing about Morocco. I would suppose they have a death penalty.
